Default Question about a dash swap. ST legal?

I have a quick question about my car. I picked up a 90 Si hatch that had a CRX dash swapped into it. Would my car still be ST legal with that? Or do I need to find an Si dash and change it back? I was talking to some of the guys at my last SCCA solo and they weren't too sure they were saying that I could claim it as a driver convenience. Are there any weight differences in the two? In theory I would assume the CRX dash weighs more due to the center console?? Thanks.

Me too, but I was that's what they were saying. Especially if I go to nationals, someone could complain.

Out of the SCCA rule book.
Accessories, gauges, indicators, lights and other appearance, comfort and convenience modifications which have no effect on performance
and/or handling and do not materially reduce the weight of the car are permitted.
I think I'm OK as long as someone can verify that It doesn't weigh less.

check if the vin on the dash is the same as the car you're good.
if not, get the right vin and swap it.

The VIN doesn't match. And I have no access to the original VIN, beings that I bought it that way, and the PO bought it that way. But I think the guys running ST civics would know it's different.

If you are only running local events at this point, don't bother swapping your dash. Nobody is going to care to call you on checking the weights, and it probably isn't that much different. Just go out, have fun, and get seat time.

Well that's the thing. I plan on running Nationals next year, as well as the PAC NWR SCCA, and two local clubs. So 24 events plus what ever I can make in the national circuit. If I do well (Like that's going to happen) I don't want any one getting they're panties in a bunch. I'm just wondering if during the off season if I need should just find another dash and swap it back to stock, or claim driver convenience.

Find a stock Civic Si dash and swap it back. Hard to justify this under c&c (faux carbon fiber trim around the shifter = c&c) and it'll just garner unneeded and unwanted attention when you should be focusing on driving.

Yeah that's most likely where I'm going with it. Would a cluster swap be OK? Being that it has some other cluster in it?

I would really be surprised if this wasn't made into an issue.. Anyone remember the axle damper issues?!

This is a class where every car is nearly identical, people make a stink about the smallest of things because they make a difference.

It all depends on how competitive you are.. If you're just doing locals, then no problem. The swapped dash won't fly at any regional event or pro solo

Yeah, if you want to run anything other than locals, you're going to have to swap the dash back. And you had better make sure you replace/reinstall every single nut, bolt and fastener/trim piece.

You obviously have no idea how cut-throat it has gotten at the national level in ST.

I have some idea. At the last PACNWR solo I was checking out a couple of the ST civics there that run nationals. Holy crap the lengths they go to to shave weight and what not. No passenger head rest. radio/antenna delete. No cat back. Just a strait pipe with a resonator to meet the sound regs.

It only takes one. When I had my EF Si I was trying to find ways to also cut weight. Mine was down to 2080lbs (still had stereo, speakers, stock passenger seat, and full length exhaust).
Then I heard some of the ways people were trying and I was like "I'm not that nuts"
