OT: Almost lost the Integra today.
I'm not sure if it was last night or sometime in the last few days but my car was attempted to be stolen. The passenger side window molding was pried back and there were dents in the door frame and smudges on the window. Looks like someone was trying to pry the window back to pull the lock release. I think the only thing that saved my car was that I shaved the lock release tabs off so that this wouldn't happen.
The car was empty and I have a stock factory radio so I believe the attempt was to steal the whole car.
I guess I'm going out to buy a quick release steering wheel tomorrow.

Fuggin' bastards.
doubt they were 'real' thieves. they would've popped the window. they also have no problem driving with a pair of vicegrips.

Integras (except for the RS) have these silver power lock tabs that you can slide a coat hanger down between the window glass and the molding and lift the silver tab to unlock the car. I cut them off.

I cut them off. right on, I disabled my power locks, but there was someone that removed the tabs and used skateboard griptape on the now-flat surfaces so he could still use powerlocks, cool idea
Thanks Owen.
Ray - who wonders if you remember me from an event at the Pocono raceway back in 2000.

I know there's no full proof system but the more things I do to make my car more difficult to steal the better chances I have that it won't get stolen. (i.e. the shaved power lock tabs helped).
Also, I have been looking for an excuse to buy a new steering wheel

Time for a kill switch on the ground wire to the fuel pump. $5 mod and sure as hell prevents it from driving away.
Another good spot is to put a kill switch on the ground wire to the main relay.

Sometime I'll get around to doing a nice kill switch but my biggest goal right now are anti-theft mods that are visable from outside the car in hopes of deterring any attempt. Kill switches are nice but not something that would be noticed until actualy in the car and attempted to be started.

Been there, done that.
As a visible deterrent, I jam a classic regular club in between my shifter (U hook holds the shifter in 1st) and the e-brake (up of course). This works if you ditch the ashtray.

yeah, what's the red button do? The theft prevention on my car includes a blinking red light, a broken alarm, and I remove the MAP limitiing circuit that I have on my dash, so the car can't be driven away (it's like the poor-man's AFC)...the car won't even start without it, and sure as hell won't drive, even if you bypass it You gotta get crafty...bypassing the MAP sensor is something that most thieves would not look for, and I don't believe there's any chance of getting the car started without it.
