Got the slot car track set up in the kid's room. Only gripe is that the little guide pin on the Vette doesn't sit as low as the Ferrari, so if you go WOT, then it flies off the track. There is a "Turbo" button on the controller but that should jsut be labelled "insta-crash". The 3 foot straights are too short to really open 'em up.

It's a conspiracy against the Corvette! Or maybe they think the guy driving the 'vette is a bigger pin...

What's interesting is that Mercedes and Ferrari dominated F1 in the 1950's...what would have happened if Mercedes never left? Would the garagistas at Williams and McLaren have been as successful?

Back to the Supra. I just can't get over how much they screwed up the car. Reference from the concept car to the production car.

I think Merc would have left on their own at some point anyway. 1955 just helped move them along. Ferrari was headed by one man with a singular vision, Merc was already turning into a corporation, the board said pull the plug after the tragedy. I'm certain at some point they would have pulled out of of F1 for financial or other company reasons.

I could see the usefulness of a hybrid pickup. Instant torque would be yummy for pulling out stumps and towing but I'm not sure an all electric PU is gonna have enough range (especially when loaded down) to be useful. Then again I culd be wrong... Happens a lot.

The fact that he manages to do that last bit of fine-tuning, probably also was the reason why his former team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, who was completely trashed in qualifying last year, became so frustrated. What Max does, is almost impossible to imitate. His driving is so perfect.

His lap at the Charlotte Roval was an out of this world performance.

But that's such an incredibly difficult thing to do. It looks very smooth, how he is going through that last chicane, but you try and do the same: nobody can do that.
