Man I wish they'd get rid of Martin's grid walk. It's so bad that I feel bad for him and its awkward to watch. I miss Buxton.

TL;DR Nicholas Latifi has been an up and coming driver for a while. Never a championship contender or anything but doing a solid job. His dad is a billionaire. He tested a Renault last year, he's FI's 3rd driver this year. Dad just bought a $250m stake in McLaren.

Zak Brown mentioned wanting Alonso to race for McLaren outside of F1 like WEC or IndyCar.

Interesting article about IndyCar trying to reach 900hp. The current engines are around 750hp. I think the Mercedes F1 power unit is already around 900hp.

If the other cars' wheelbase is 3200mm and Mercedes' is 3400mm, and the underfloor surface is 50% of the wheelbase, that would give us an extra 100mm of underfloor length. Based on the shorter wheelbase cars having an underfloor length of 1600mm, that means the Mercedes underfloor is 6% larger in surface area. If the underfloor produces 20% of the car's overall downforce that means that extra underfloor surface area equates to roughly 1.2% of the car's overall downforce.

So, if a 'normal' wheelbase car produces 1600kg at the normal downforce quoted speed of 240km/h (149mph) then that 1.2% equals 19.2kg. With the average pole speed in Monaco last year 166km/h (103mph), and considering that downforce is produced at the square of the car's speed, that means an increase in downforce of 9.2kg. On normal circuits, where the average speed is higher, the benefit is even greater.

When you consider Max Verstappen would have been three quarters of a tenth faster had he strung his three fastest sectors, this is hugely promising for Red Bull.
what about race pace?

When it comes to long-run pace, Red Bull also looks strong. The runs on hypersofts pointed to an advantage of around four tenths of a second over Ferrari
