Just an observation, but it seems like the team/cars that have Q pace really struggle with pace for the first half of the race. I wonder if the narrow window of the tyres is the issue and with a full fuel load the faster cars cannot push while the slightly slower cars can. 4 races and we've seen this each time. Just is usually the Mercs.

2018 forecast:
Fred stays with McLaren because they tell Honda to FO and promise Fred they can be as competitive as the Merc works outfit and Fred believes it.

Merc tells Williams sorry but we can't supply you anymore.

Honda, no longer burdened by the Alonso curse, develops the most powerful, fuel efficient, reliable PU on the grid. Williams gets the amazing Honda PU along with works status. Sauber gets the Honda PU for a song and a dance and is able to field a second team, Monisha Honda, to give seats to the 4 drivers they have signed for 2018.

The Honda PU powered cars lead every lap, win every pole/race and lockout all the podium places. Alonso has a nervous breakdown.

On a slightly moar serious note. Today's result is not very helpful for HAM and to a lesser degree Merc. BOT is closer to HAM in points than HAM is to VET. Gone be a lot harder to ask BOT to pull aside if he isn't drastically slower then HAM right now.
