They weren't even close to the braking zone yet, as Vettel wouldn't have and didn't take that line through the corner. You can see Max wanted to back out but all that happened in less than 5 seconds.
I was really curious what Kimi was going to do when he got there from the inside edge of the straight but yeah, 5 seconds.

I think you're putting too much on Max. I actually think he did back out based on the videos, but by that time his wheels were already interlocked with Kimi's and it was game over.

I agree you should be able to run 3 wide down a straight. VET did the MSC chop and didn't get away with it this time.
The mirrors are a joke. I'd love to see the drivers have proximity indicators in their helmets above their field of view like the video games have.

Ditch the mirrors and put a rear facing camera with a display, similar to what the GT cars have been using at LeMans
Screen could look something like this, but also then need to have a display in the steering wheel or be able to add the rear view to the display options.

I don't think there's anything that could have saved the carnage here other than a spotter yelling "LEFT LEFT LEFT" or NO/RIGHT, whichever the spotter and the driver agree on....now that team orders are allowed, can the pit wall actually do something like this for a driver? Or is it still illegal? I'd attempt to implement this by next race if it wasn't, at least for the start to the first corner.

I figured they would have to have the phone plugged into the car to charge. Not sure they can use Waze for 2 hours without killing the battery.
Kimi could have used it in Brazil a few years back

Strava doesn't need data to work like the other stuff does. I actually take Strava on backpacking trips with me and the phone in airplane mode, that's really cool data to have.

I use Here as my onboard map app. It said I was flying at 523mph over Iowa. Waze doesn't work in the Bellville area (Amish country) in Ohio where there's no cell signal.

I should've waited and watched the post race presser.

You're a tow truck driver? Or is that your car? (I don't know what everyone drives except hungrygreengsr and bluuu). If it's your car I'm assuming you took the pic so at least you're okay enough to take a pic.
