The other day I discovered my Mazda wagon has a lower factory 'stance' than a Toyota Supra.

The sport wagons are a rare bird regardless of the trans with the manual being even more so.

For the price though, you can't beat em. I will lament that when I come to sell mine.

0-60 in less than 7 seconds.

How is the reliability on those? Fuel mileage? Any quirks or frequent failures?

I'm debating going to a cheaper wagon of some type if VW buys my TDI back.

That's assuming they can't just fix it with no performance impact with a quick software change . @wesvailco please respond on what is taking so long for VW to fix these cars.

MPGs are pretty awful. But gas is cheap so ... kinda no ***** given. (but some ***** are given..cant lie) 16/21. Yeessh. But the 2005s are better since they have a 6spd A/T (the '04s have the 5A/T), so I presume the highway mileage is better on those models.

It's been reliable for me so far. Rear coil packs took a **** around 80k but that is apparently normal on that car and they aren't very expensive to fix. Mine just hit 100k miles this month.

EDIT: forgot that the driver's side seat warmer took a dump this winter. FUUUUUUUU

If you're used to working on VAGs than I don't think you'll have an issue. IMO, not as 'easy' to work on as say a Honda or BMWs (the ones I've worked on anyway) part of that is familiarity though. Once you know what to expect it's not so bad - but yeah, not a lot of room in there with that V6 hogging up the engine bay. My biggest gripe (besides the abunance of hard, brittle plastic throughout the engine bay) are the headlights and the degree of difficulty involved in changing a few bulbs.

Another puzzling design feature is that the oil filter housing is located directly above the down pipe. So you have to cover the down pipe with aluminum foil when you change the oil or else it will all spill out on the down pipe.

Fortunately for me, a friend of mine and fellow Mazda owner tipped me off to a Mazda dealer tech that does cash work on the hush hush if you deal direct with him. I let him tackle the wheel bearing and engine mounts for me.

Sauber's sponsors had to do advances so the team members could get paid. Should've gotten rid of Monisha after that double booking of one of the seats because the GVDG lawsuit settlement was an avoidable money pit.

I don't think Sauber even gets heritage payments.
