NASA Safety Rules for Race Groups
This info comes from Chris Cobetto. It's the NASA law on safety rules and would apply to any future Honda series we put together.
1. Roll Cages - 6 point Bolt ins are acceptable and they must have at least one door bar per side. SCCA GCR rules apply to diameter and wall thickness.
Basically...
Cars over 2200lbs - either 1.5 inch 120 wall DOM or 1.75 inch 120 wall ERW).
Cars under 2200lbs - typically 1.5 inch 095 wall or 1.25 inch 120 wall.
Consult the GCR or cage dealer for specific application for your car. The above is just a general reference.
6 point and 8 point weld in cages are also acceptable.
2. 5 point harness less than 5 years old.
3. 5 lb Fire extinguisher with a metal mount.
4. Minimum SFI 5 rated drivers suit
5. Nomex shoes/socks/gloves/ (balaclava if you have long hair or a beard)
6. SA95 or better helmet
7. Window net preferred, but arm restraints are acceptable.
8. Airbags MUST BE REMOVED.
9. Glass sunroofs MUST BE REMOVED
(I'm going to try to negotiate this one due to the expense of having this done... we'll see.)
10. Stock seats can remain, but seat back braces are mandatory. This means you'll need something fabricated if you want to use your stock seat.
And there you have it. These are the requirements for both the race school and the races.
Who's still in?

Re: NASA Safety Rules for Race Groups (George Knighton)
It not expensive to remove/replace sunroof glass. Unbolt it, pull it out, and pop rivet some sheet metal in place. Do the rules even require a replacement (or just removal of the glass)?
FYI - the SCCA will be mandating proper race bucket seats in all but SS next year. I'm just surprised it took so long, since reclining seats are so obvisously inadequate.

I still don't get the whole seatback brace thing. If the seat is FIA rated, it really shouldn't have a seatback brace. They weren't designed with a brace, and then you gotta drill holes for the damn thing.
Now if we're talking Kirkey or whatnot, then yeah, I'm all for a bolted seatback brace.

FYI - if anybody ever says the comp board doesn't listen, they're lying. I requested classification of the Civic CX into IT. They listened. Too bad the request was denied (for lack of member interest).

Re: NASA Safety Rules for Race Groups (98type-r)
I got some further sunroof clarification...
Metal roofs must be bolted, welded, or riveted in place.
Glass roofs may remain IF they are taped on both sides and held down with a minimum of two metal strips that are bolted or riveted to the roof of the car.
Apparently there has been a history of sunroofs flying off at races.
Anybody know of a source for bolt-in fiberglass, carbon fiber, or metal replacement sunroof panels?
As far as just leaving a hole in the roof, I wouldn't think that would be acceptable. Maybe Jon can answer that one?

If you remove the glass portion of the roof, you can bring it to any boat yard and they could produce it for very little money. The fiberglass could then be bolted to the frame.

Re: NASA Safety Rules for Race Groups (GSRMatt)
It could, but SCCA requires replacement to be of same material as rest of roof, so a FG roof panel would only be ok with NASA. Plus, SCCA requires all sunroofs to be bolted or strapped in place, so it still wouldn't open.
