Loose steering?!
So I went to my first autocrossing event a while ago and ever since then my steering has felt kinda 'loose'. I havent checked out the rack to see if any bolts need tightening but I wanted to see what you guys reccomended. Its like when there is a patch of pavement on the road that is higher than the rest of the road, and my tire gets up on it, my whole car gets pushed to the side. Its really bad on the highway, is like every single TINY movment w/ the steering wheel moves the whole car. The last symptom is: when I turn the steering wheel a little for small turns, etc my steering wheel stays in the same place. It doesnt 'snap' back like its supposed to.
Thanks guys, and ANY input is much appreciated.

Maybe get your suspension checked by a pro, especially tie-rods/ends and ball joints. An alignement would be a good idea also.

It sounds like a toe problem. Go get the car aligned. I have the same crap going on with my car. I just need to take it in the shop. Make sure you get a print out of the before and end setting and post them here.

Re: Loose steering?! (SoloSol)
Cool. Thanks guys. I have been waiting to get my car aligned for when I get my new tires which should be in the next couple weeks. Hopefully after I get it aligned the problem will be solved.
Thanks again guys!

I had the same exact problem. Got my car aligned and most of the problems dissappeared. My car still follows imperfections in the road a lil too closely though.

I don't know.. You said it was your first time auto-xing. When I first went auto-xing I noticed afterwards my car felt funny and mainly the steering. I think everything just gets loosened up or settled really fast the first couple of auto-xes. I remember my first 3 auto-xes the car felt different every time. After the 4th or so I noticed no more changes in the car. I had gotten an alignment right before I started auto-xing too..
If you have stock stocks and springs you will feel many changes in your car the first 3-4 events..
