knife edge crank + track=bad?
If you have a knife edge crank in your car, is this bad if you want to race on a track. If so, how bad is it for the longevity of the motor? I started out being more into drag racing, and it revs quickly with the little rotational mass there is on the crank. I want to start going out to different tracks like Laguna Seca, Buttonwillow, etc... Since there is less material to splash up the oil in the crank case, will I see problems when reving high for longer periods of time?

Re: knife edge crank + track=bad? (blueG2)
For my car (944), knife edging the crank was suggested for tracking the car. Huntley Racing's pov was that less spash = less foaming and less likely for the pick-up to slurp air/foam and then less likely to spin a bearing. Although, I guess another aspect would be whether it is still balanced - if not, could be detrimental yes? Then again, I'd think it'd be detrimental on the street as well.
Whatever, that's just my reference point on it and I am sure on this board you'll get much more sucinct responses - until then . . .

Splashing = bad. Foamy oil is a no no.
As long as the crank is balanced after knife-edging, it should be ok.
Check http://www.theoldone.com for info for modding the oil pump for better flow (talks about D16, but probably applies to most engines).

What if my engine doesn't have oils squirters for the pistons? Don't GSR and Type R engines have oil squirters for the pistons to lubricate them better? Will I see a problem there if I don't have those?
