german Honda Civic Racecar project
 

Last year a customer of us asked us to build a race civic for him and we decided to help him.
He just told us some ideas and gave us free hand to decide on nearly everything of course we have to ask him before decisions)

Since he is showing the project we are doing for him in german forums he allowed us to present it here in HT.

We start with some pics from the beginning.

We started with a 750USD 75hp Civic and teared it down for welding the whole chassi.
Customers wife was not happy about the project as you can see.

After removing all glues and paint we startet to weld the chassi to make it as stiff as possible

After welding we had to start to build the cage. We got special rules for construction to make them legal.

Ah the green frog. Post up the last pictures of the progress you have made. Looking forward to the end result, and heavily interested in pictures of the splitter you intend to use.

Yes, I´ll update more pictures in the next days. Splitter setup will not be as easy as we were hoping.
We have to add a lot of things like turbo front mount intercooler, oil cooler, power steering oil cooler, a huge water cooler and some brake ducts maybe in combination with some traction bars. So we are not sure how to combine all these things and make it easy to assemble/disassemble.

Good build so far! Wish i had the garage and free time to get my car stripped down and stitch welded. Hell i'm going to have issues trying to get the rest of the interior out of it with the cage already in! Not going to be fun gutting this showroom stock c civic.

So you just spot welded through the paint? Why didn't you prep the surfaces first? Not worried about contamination?

Oh, sorry. The customer changed his interests and stopped the project.
He asked me if I want to have the car and so I took it for me and he did not to pay all of his bills and I could continue a friendly relationship to him.

Car is painted already and most of the items I needed are here now.

I´ll update a few pics in the next few days because it seems to be interesting for some people.
