^^^ I see the trolls have come out.... Now back to the topic at hand.. i cant wait to see the V8's come out. Its going to be really interesting to see what teams stick w/ the limited V10's and how they compare the V8 cars. For the teams sake, hopefuly not like the F2004M did at the begining of the year for ferrari... I really hope that the funding issue for Spa gets worked out aswell, that would be such a same if it was pulled from the calender next year. Spa has got to be one of the most exciting tracks on the circut, although the new tracks (China and Turkey) are quickly becoming some of my favorites.

With Minardi becoming Toro Rossa, it's not known if they'll stick with Cosworth V10s. I would think the V10 would be the logical choice as the car that would have been the 2006 Minardi was supposedly developed with the V10 in mind. Then again, maybe they'll scrap the development of the 2006 Minardi and develop this year's RB1 as Toro Rossa's 2006 car.

There's so many things being speculated right now in the F1 press that it's hard to keep track of who's rumoured to be driving for who and what rules are gonna be passed for 2006!

Also, Prost did not become Renault, though Flavio is of course in the middle of it all. Heidi Klum's baby's daddy (what Flavio is known as in the USA) took controlling interest of Ligier (early 90s, don't know the exact year, maybe 93/94). This included assuming Ligier's liabilities/contracts, which included an engine supply agreement with Renault.

I don't know if Flavio admitted to it but it was reported he bought controlling interest in Ligier in order for Benetton to get the second supply of Renault engines (Williams had the other Renault supply) for 1995 and onwards. Ligier then got Mugens in 1995, but was overshadowed by the "blue Benetton" scandal (similar to last year's "blue Ferrari" controversy).

Alain Prost took over Ligier just before the start of the 1997 season. The JS45 was already developed and Panis and Nakano were already contracted (Prost did not want Nakano). 1997 was the transition season. The team became Prost-Peugeot in 1998, but the relationship was unfruitful. After Peugeot left Prost (supposedly helped by Bernie) was able to get Ferrari to supply engines. These were badged as Acers in deference to Prost's title sponsor. The Ferrari engines didn't help Prost out of midpack. Ilmor was rumoured to supply Prost (it was speculated it would be a McLaren 'junior' team) but Prost couldn't keep the team afloat and ended up folding the team.

I have to admit that new wing configuration would take a while to get use to. But then all of those fuggin winglets looked trashy as first too. I again wonder about why not go with the GP2 car set up that uses underbody aero and trim down the wing size/angle of attack. The GP2 cars seem to be able to follow and overtake.

Again its evident that no one here really watches F1 save the few that I gave praises to earlier, if you wish to speak about some thing that is a fact, have some bloody validity in your posts, ACTUALLY go obtain some info directly from the source http://www.f1.com or barhonda.com or fia.com...

And we all know f1.com is run by Bernie, so everything on that site is already censored for the public. Personally, using f1.com as a reference for a "good" f1 site seems pretty rediculous to me. bbc.co.uk/sport is far more superior to f1.com in terms of articles published and timely updates, in my opinion. Not to mention all the cool little tools and track guides the bbc site has. But being that you are from the UK (MSisgod), i assume that you already knew that As far as the 07' proposed wing configuration, i think they are bad ***. I wonder if the angle of the wing elements has to be the same for each side... If not, this introduces a whole new aspect to F1 areo options.

I'm already suffering from F1 withdrawals. Next season will definitely be interesting with the 2.5L V-8 engine powering the cars. It's way to early to predict anything except for the fact that most of the teams will be in uncharted territory making a clean slate for all of them.

Not with those ugly cars! But if I had TV access I'd probably watch out of curiosity. Lower level formulas seem to have more action since the cars' performance are pretty equal.

new qualifying?

"shaggy say-roo???"

Qualifying will now take part in three phases. The five slowest cars will drop out after a first 15-minute session, another five will drop out after a second 15-minute session. The remaining ten cars will then compete for pole in a final 20-minute session

I can just see it now. Teams will all start to produce different variations of this wing so it meets the rules, but still creates the same washout effects on the following car as we see now!

A1GP reminds me of the XFL. Anyone remember that? It probably shouldn't, but when you eat alpo as a kid your cognitive abilities suffer.

Huh? 2006? Nah, they are trying to get it introduced for 2007. Source Link

prkiller - Werd, the teams will probably try to conteract the favorable CDG wing.

What is this talk about Red Bull Racing using Ferrari engines? That sounds like a horrible rumor, arn't they sticking with Cosworth? BTW, the atlantic series will no longer have Toyota engines, but Cosworth.
