Dragstrip in N.C.?
What is the best and closest place to take my car to the drags? I live in Durham, N.C. area..........I would like to know because next year we (dad and I) are looking at running in the One Lap of America in a Hybrid Civic. The tour has a couple of track events and 4 drags at two different places. We need to test the car! When we build it

About 30mins from you in Raleigh is one of the best tracks on the east coast. I plan on making a trip there sometime this summer.

94Accord, are you thinking of Rockingham? It's about 1.25 hours south of the Triangle area. I'm not a drag racer, but I went once, and it's a big place - full 1/4 mile, nice (as tracks go) facilities.

Well don't feel like a dumbass. Basically 8400, you're in the right place. There's Rockingham, which has an import challenge every weekend. And if you like road courses and autocrossing, there's LOADS of stuff around here. IM me through the board if you want and I'll give you the lowdown.

If you're planning to run One Lap, you need lots of seat time at a road course. Start immediately. If not sooner. Check out http://www.trackschedule.com. This has just about all the events on the east coast at all the tracks. For VIR (which is about 1 hour away, and Mecca to us road racing freekz) I know Viper Days and Car Guys will be there back to back weekends in July. Several of us on this board will be there both weekends. You might get lucky and get one of us as an instructor...

Thanks for the help! I plan on doing the drags and my dad will do the track racing for the first year, then switch. My dad is a BMWCCA and PCA instructor for VIR, Watkins Glen, Mid Ohio, Lime Rock. ex. So I am learning from him, I'll be at VIR in 3 weeks for BMWCCA track event, I am auto xing and getting seat time with a couple of BMW instructors. Thanks for the help, we are new to the area so I am learning my way around

I don't live here in town. I am just staying with my parents for the summer. I am in a couple of Auto X clubs in South Carolina. I go to school at Clemson. I'll be at one of your events in Aug.
