Default Double Clutching

Is double-clutching necessary in a Honda anymore? I own a em1 with its original B-series tranny. I hear from different sources that double-clutching isn't necessary in a vehicle like mine. To be honest, i'm not an expert at driving a stick shift. With my current Civic making it my 2nd vehicle with a manual tranny. The first vehicle i've ever driven with a manual was a 97 accord and i wasn't all that good at driving it either. Basically, i just know a little bit of the basic of driving a stick shift. Nothing fancy. But i do wanna learn more about it. Like how to master all the driving techniques that involves in driving one.

Double clutching is really meant for transmissions that don't have synchros in them. So, in short, no it's not necessary. However, in Road Racing and AutoX like I do, I would learn to heel and toe.

Granny shifting, not double clutching like you should... you're lucky that 100 shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake!

Okay, so heel-toe is necessary, but what about power shifting? I just raced a turbo 240sx today and it was a close race. I kind a felt like i could have done a lot better with better shifting techniques. What about power shifting tho?? Is that even worth learning in my em1?

No, not worth it. Just learn your car and that alone will help you. There's no cookie cutter technique to driving better. Seat time is more important.

Only drivers that typically still use double-clutching is rally drivers and some endurance racers to keep the wear and tear down on the gearboxes during long races.
