Default Anyone know of any sites where I can get the breakdown of regs. for SCCA club classes??

Trying to figure out what class I should/could run with my '90 Civic STD hatch. I know the 3 classes, but I want to know exactly what I can/cannot mod so I can figure out what will be required/cheapest to do.

I will be buying the reg book as soon as I join, but need to wait for more cash (after the holidays).

Any help would be appreciated!

Specifically classes ITC, GT-3, FP .........

I'm thinking ITC myself.

For club racing, you need to buy the General Competition Regulations (GCR).
For solo events, you need to buy the National Solo Rules.

Both are available from http://www.scca.org or from your regional staff.

Off the top of my head, the car would run in H-Stock (HS), C-Street Prepared (CSP), Street Touring (STS), Street Modified (SM), or one of the regular Mod or Prepared classes.

Stock allows:
cat-back
plugs, wires
air filter, stock housing
shocks
front swaybar
DOT tires
wheels, stock size, +/-.20" offset (I think)
any brake fluid, oil, brake lining

xSP allows (in addition to Stock):
emmissions delete
exhaust is free
intake is free (manifolds, TBs, Carb, injection, etc)
racing seats
stereo delete
AC delete
springs (coil over)
rear swaybar
strut braces
ignition and fuel control are free

STS allows (in additon to stock):
headers
springs (coil overs)
rear swaybar
strut braces
drilled/slotted rotors (stock size)
any reclinable seats
ECU
wheels
tires must have greater than 140 tread wear

Street Mod allows (in addition to xSP):
engine and drivetrain are totally free (including induction type)
*there are displacement and weight limits
subframe braces (but not subframe cross braces)
brakes are to Prepared rules (basically allows big brake kits)
suspension is free but must use stock mounting points (to unibody/frame)

The lists above are not guarunteed complete or correct, buy the rulebooks to be sure.

Haha, I just wasted 10 minutes.

ITC allows (again, not guarunteed complete or correct):
emmissions delete
AC delete
stereo delete
driver seat only
6 or 8 point cage (see GCR for specs)
5/6 point harness
window net
kill switch
fire extinguisher
swaybars
strut tower braces
gut interior (dash must remain). driver door may be gutted for NASCAR bars.
header, exhaust (must terminate behind driver)
intake (in front of MAP/MAF sensors).
ignition is mostly open, but must retain distributor for spark distribution.
balance/blueprint and overbore
port match intake/exhaust (but not the whole head).
final drive (this is a BIGGY)
clutch
struts, shocks, etc
springs (coil overs, but must be sleeve type, like Ground Control)

I'm sure I missed a lot, but that's most of it. Buy a GCR.

Not sure if your car is listed for ITC, only the Civic 1.5 HB is listed (I think that's what you have). Expect to spend $5000 or so to get a reasonable mid-pack car. $10,000 (plus yearly development) to get a pretty nice car.

GP allows a bunch of suspension stuff, fiberglass and lexan, true slicks, and a few more engine tweaks (depends on car, as there are competition adjustments). Car will cost twice as much to build.

GT - $$$ tube frame, RWD, and other fast, fun, and expensive stuff.

Cool thanks.

I need to see for sure what the rules would be since I am converting the stock D15B1 (70 hp DPI engine) over to MPFI by doing a head swap from a newer DX, and using the Si intake manifold and injectors. It is still a 1.5L hatch, but with a few other tweaks to it ......

I'll make sure I pick up the GCR.

According to the SCCA site (researched already), my car would be able to run in the three I listed, GT-3, FP, and ITC.

That head swap will put you out of ITC for sure. And very likely out of FP and GT3. Buy the GCR before you touch the engine.

Already touched it ...... going ito SCCA racing was an afterthought after I had already gotten all of the stuff, and most of it is already on! Since it will now have the power/output of the Si, maybe it would bump me into that class .....

I'll get the book as soon as cash is available.

Thanks again.

Nope. Sorry, you've modded yourself right out of IT completely. If you are lucky, the DX and base will share a listing in Production and then the head swap MAY (but probably not) be legal.

In addition to crack monkey's reply:

STS:
AC delete allowed now (new rule change I've been waiting for)
Tires less than or equal to 225 width
Wheels less than or equal to 7.5" width
Short shifter
Brake lines (must be DOT)
Camber plates
Strut bars (non-triangulating)
Intake
Pulleys (accessories only)

In case the SCCA is still updating their site, here's where I got my rules from: http://www.best.com/~mouton/sccasolo...t_touring.html Last time I checked it out, SCCA rules from their site were not available.

But yes, that is the big stuff.

Quick question about classes: Would a rear disc brake conversion (Si, GS, LS, or GS-R) put my EK hatch out of SM and into the next higher class?

Don't know, you may want to ask the question in another thread to make sure it gets noticed.

On Topic, I asked for the G.C.R. book for X-mas, and I'll be sending in my membership stuff after X-mas.

The head swap and manifold swap are all done, no codes, and everything has run fine so far! (First day driving it today).

Maybe this helps with my rear disc conv. question althought I'm not exactly sure what it means...does it mean it's legal for me to swap Si brakes?

"This could only be done through the SP update/backdate rule, which would
allow for any disc brakes from other Honda models listed with yours on the
same line in the rule book, Appendix A. You could not use an aftermarket
brake system. I am not familiar enough with the late model Civics to know if
any of the Civics listed with yours in SP ever had disc brakes in the rear.
If they did, you could use those brakes. If not, you would have to stay with
your original brakes to stay in SP.
