Default Sparco Sprints for a daily driver..

My planned use for the seat is autox..but my car is also a daily driver.

I am considering the sprint...mainly because of price.

The only problem is it looks fairly upright, so I'm not sure about how comfortable it is. Currently I drive w/my seat *fairly* upright, so I don't think it would be to bad.

The other seat I was considering was the sparco roadster...but it doesn't look like it would hold me in as well.

Anyone have any advice or opinions??

TIA

Go sit in them at the shop for a length of time before you buy.

thats funny; everybody's different. i love my ultra. . . . i've driven many 9+ hour drives in it and been perfectly comfy / happy. like ya said, ya gotta just try em out, see what fits your body.

I have the sprint in my daily drivin 300zx.....it is not that bad, but is a bit of a pain in the *** getting in and out. I did a three hour trip in it and wasn't uncomfortable till about the last half hour. You should be fine with it as long as you have adjustable sliders mounted to it.

I have a pair of Sparco Ultras (not sure how similar they are) in my daily driver, its really not that bad, especially with a lumbar pad. Several 4+ hour trips in the car over the past two years and only note is that it is a bit rough on your lower back on trips over a couple hours.

Ya, I already contemplated the whole sit before you buy idea...

I live in UT so there are little to no shops that have the seats.

I have a friend w/a Milano, I love that seat..but it is to similar to stock, besides the harness.

I have sat in both EVOs and Corsas for extended periods of time. Both are very comfy, actually moreso than regular seats. Just because its upright doesnt mean its uncomfortable. The support of the seats make it much easier on the spine, IMO.

The Sprint doesn't have a cutout for the substrap of a 5 point harness, does it? Something to consider if you plan on installing a 5 point any time in the future...

My friend has an older MOMO in his car. I think it is pretty similar to what you are looking at. I have driven his car a few times and the only thing that is uncomfortable is driving around with my wallet in my back pocket.

Interesting. I was going to say that the one thing I really like about the Ultras is that I never feel my wallet in these. Usually in the truck I take out my walet to drive on a long trip but in the daily driver, I am constantly thinking I forgot my wallet. Might just be this particular seat.

The ultras look pretty damn ugly..but they *look* alot more comfortable than the sprint.

I would probobly end up getting those for the same reason I don't have a damn body kit on my car..Function over fashion.

Anyone in here have any experience w/the Roadster?? The most I plan on running is a 4pt harness..Id like to have kids....*someday*. is the roadster compatible w/this?

Lastly, anyone know where I can find the weights for the seats?? Im assuming the more expensive seats are lighter, but the sprint looks pretty trim. My fatass lude needs to lose some weight.

Yea his seat has very little padding. I like it alot, it is very comfortable except for that small little detail.

ugly, ha!
you know the way... form follows function---> at 12 pounds each, offering side mounting AND bottom mounting, plus being inexpensive AND comfy, the Ultras are hard to beat.

I found weights on http://www.sparcousa.com/sizechart_seat.htm

I have Sparco Ultras, they are fantastic in my daily driver. Guess it all comes down to personal preference and how you fit in the specific seat. Even without added padding I was super comfortable during my 6 hour roadtrip to Lime Rock CT and then racing all daylong. I think the Ultras are some of the comfiest yet supportive available... I was lucky enought to sit in over 8 different styles of seats at a trackschool a few years back so I agree there is no substitute for sitting in one yourself before you buy, just to make sure it fits you all over.... shoulders, waist, torso, thighs, back angle, etc.

i would def reccomend the ultras. Sprints are ridiculous to get in and out of. One week straight of a daily driver with those and your A$$ bone is fractured. Drive throughs are a no no with those too.. LOL. They are a great cheap good looking seat for a weekend track warrior though. good luck

I know Owen and I have talked about the Ultras a bit.

...how is the padding on the bottom of the seat? I've thought about the Evo's but the Ultras look better for the price, etc.....just as long as it doesn't feel like sitting on a 2x4.

me 6'3 190 lbs with sprint seat and rollcage with door bar....

had this seat in for 22000 miles daily driven....

just switched to my del slow seat and i must say i miss my sprint!!!! yes i said i miss my sparco spring none adjusting seat!!!

and i did over 4 trips of more than 12 hours with this seat....didn't find it to be a problem....but i do like being snug in the car....the seat gave you a feeling of being in and being in good if that makes sense

the seat kept you in a fairly comfortable posistion. yet i was still able to move around to readjust my arzzzz... the side of the sprint kept the need close to the steering wheel so that you can rest you hands on your knees while still driving.

with the del slow seat i find that my legs just flop and yes it's easier to move around i miss the sparco sprint.

this is all in an eg too...

sprint is not a bad entry level seat, i have it for 3 years. however, the material is not too durable, mine got holes all over the place.

Perhaps the Corbeau Forza should be considered as well...the last comment regarding holes is interesting and I know that the Forza does have "reinforcement areas" on the sides and shoulders.

Any comments?

I had the Forza in my CRX for 6 months, daily driven, and it never gave me a problem in terms of comfort.

Nah, it pretty much is like sitting on a 2x4 But then again, a bar stool is a plank of wood too and they are alright. For me, its the lower back that is the problematic part - the lumbar pad helps but still, its not like a factory seats on a trip.

They make a speed now, that has those pieces of neoprene on the edges..I guess sparco figured that problem out, but the seat is a lil bit more.
