24 Hours of Lemons (yes lemons)
This was an extremely entertaining event to watch and cover over the last two days. I there was working with autoblog.com doing a LIVEBLOG of the entire event minute by minute. The cars had to be worth less than $500, so there was everything from Pinto's (yes more than one) to a Jeep Cherokee. The was divided into two session adding up to about 15 hours.I plan on competing later on in the year with a team using a gen 2 RX-7.
Redstone Motors was out there tearing it up, the #22 Orange CRX.

Re: 24 Hours of Lemons (sumyungguy)
Nice photos! I only wish I get a couple nearly as good as that!
I was up at this race as well, it was amazing. Even more crazy and exciting than I had expected. It truly is everything they tell you it will be: "Nasty, Brutish, Not Short Enough" And then some....
We went up there to check things out and hopefully learn a thing or two. This past tuesday we bought a 92 integra and are going to start prepping it soon. My brother and friend actually drove the ar 460 miles each way this weekend to see the race!!

Re: 24 Hours of Lemons (mighty_sol)
It was soo hot in the car yesterday close to the end of the race the water that I had in the car to drink got so hot i couldn't drink it. I think i lost at least 5lb's this weekend but it was worth it and i had a blast.
My Dad has lots of camera footage so i will see if we can put some up.

Re: 24 Hours of Lemons (BlacktraxGirl)
Blacktraxgirl and TwoRedEGgs: Congrats on your team's great finish! I was definitely rooting for your team and Chapter 11 Racing.
btw, my friend was told by one of their team members that they had a twin cam jdm motor in their car. Do you know what engine they were running? I''m not sure if the guy my friend talked too knew much about hondas or the actual engine they were running. Both your car and theirs was fast so I wondered if they had a zc as well or just the stock sohc si motor.

Re: 24 Hours of Lemons (mighty_sol)
^^^ hahaha yes yes i know so bad
Too bad we bought the car for 150 with the motor in it already :D of course it didnt have anything else.
i have NO idea what was in the ef hb. i didnt get a chance...the day went by way too fast and too many problems popping up. but i know they did a complete brake job and new tires for sundays event. really nice guys tho.
we wanna go in october....but we have to see if we think the car will hold up for another demolition derby

Re: 24 Hours of Lemons (BlacktraxGirl)
lol i know at the end of sunday the lemons turned from an endurance race to a survival of the cars left rolling. mostly we were just trying to keep on keeping on. that EF hatch had an LS motor in it (saw it broken down on saturday night)

less than $500?
i think some of the competitors are lying. maybe less than $1000. but im sure some people spent more than $500 on those buckets.

i agree.. some of the cars looked like the spent more than $500.. but wheels/tires and safety stuff were unlimited.
we (#22 orange crx) honestly spent less than $500. i think the car cost even less than $350 to build and less than $100 on gas for the weekend.

Re: 24 Hours of Lemons (Downey)
yeah, you guy's with the crx lucked out! less than $100 in gas!?! did you ever calculate your mileage?
most of the cars are at/near $500, some are stretching the rules a bit. The subaru legacy entry looked to be a cheater. Well, mainly they just got friends in high places to hook 'em up, or maybe it just seemed that way since their car was one of the nicest looking there.
I have a feeling we are going to see some VERY fast cars in october, and probably a lot of entries who are bending the rules a bit too much. I just hope we still get all the odd-ball entires, those are the most entertaining....
