FWD vs RWD is an argument as pointless as MacPherson struts (newer Hondas, BMWs) vs. double wishbones (older Hondas) or turbo vs. NA.

Racing involves making the best of what you have within the rules.

Quite right Derek As I said in an earlier post, We will be seeing a lot more footage as the 2006 season goes on... Hopefully a little less S2k stuff though, and a little more of the inferior... But Faster? Shopping Baskets.

Wow, i was going to get on honda-tech and post the same thing Chad did!

I can't believe that someone would talk that kind of **** about FF cars after they just got 3 in qual. Also, S2K is not hard top....arn't race cars Hardtops.

Stuff like that shouldn't get under my skin, but people who talk smak/crap and then don't back it up or even have an idea of what they are talking about makes me so mad.

What goes around, comes around......and he got his. Congrats on the Integra winning the championship and not letting S2K driver win.

But still, no one "made" him say those things. I have met Marty and he does seem to be a nice guy. But, that does not excuse the way his attitude was portrayed on the show. I mean, come on... "FWD's cars are econoboxes that are not race cars", "people started racing them, and then they call them "race cars" ", "S2000 is a harder vehicle to drive"!

That is just a few...
I understand that the show takes a few things that you say from the interview and uses it for what they want, but still...No one made him say those things...
They were pretty bone headed, and snob-ish!

Just curious how many people making comments on this thread have raced multiple seasons in FWD and multiple seasons in RWD?

I have not raced FWD and RWD cars multiple seasons, so I guess I can't comment!

But I have tracked more cars than most people would dream of, and find each kind of car has it's own "things" that make it difficult to drive...
I would not put down any type of car racing whether it be FWD, RWD, AWD, FR, FF, MR, blah, blah, blahh...

Any moron that has ever watched any kind of sporting event on TV knows that when someone popps off and starts talking ****, whether it is "out of context" or not, has set themselves up to look like a tool. This guy couldn't keep his fat mouth shut. Whether he is a nice guy or not, he ran his mouth, didn't back it up and made himself look like a fool, plain and simple.

I have not raced several seasons in both, in fact, only one season in a FWD, and only club racing at that.

But the one thing that i have learned is not to hate on anyone, or any car. I would never hate on an S2K, so why should i feel good about someone hating on my fwd?

I know that things can be taken out of context, and its all good.

Hopefully the people that know this guy are right, because there is enough hate out there already, but if he and I are ever at a track event together, i would love to be faster.

He talked **** so what! They're all friends. Don't you talk **** to your friends. It just competition. They talk **** in boxing, hockey, nascar, etc.. but at the end of the day they take their loss and move on. Personally, I'd rather see this type of bench racing than some wuss *** coment that some driver is forced to say due to sponsorship comitments.

He's getting flamed on the internet for what he said, so what! We're all friends. Don't you flame your friends when they say stupid **** and have it come back to burn them?

He made a choice to say controversial things. I'm sure they were out of context and edited to seem more inflamatory, but you can't do that if you don't have something to work with in the first place. He talked ****, he's getting flamed on the internet. He has to deal with it.... and the fact that he put a big target on his back bumper until this blows over.

Marty is a cool guy. He's a doctor for porno stars out in the valley or something like that. Oh, a lot of people would look down on that.
He has his own shop with a tire shaver. That's pretty bad *** right?

I didn't see the show. But it sounds like he did a good job. Entertainment like that might bring the cameras back.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by rubber chicken &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
What happens is they film an interview for 15-20 minutes and then use 30 seconds of footage, usually the worst 30 seconds where you forgot what you were saying because you've repreated the same thing 3 times because loud cars keep going past in the background, or there's a pretty girl in the background who has dropped ice cream down her top and is in the process of extracting it. Both things happened in my interview, which could be why there is a segment where even I can't make sense of what I said.
</TD></TR></TABLE>

That's a pretty good description. Next time you really should stand up and go assist Ice Cream Girl in the middle of the interview. That would make the cut for sure.

I personally found the race coverage more entertaining than his insightful comments!

I think that the coverage can be entertaining without talking smack about half the amateur club racing world!

Is that what you want though? Does everything on TV need to be like Jackass, Viva La Bam, that OCC chopper show? Do you need to act like a ******** and talk lots of **** to have the cameras come back? If the racing isn't enough, then maybe you have the wrong cameras showing up. Oh well I guess the whole "fictional drama" thing works for NASCRAP so it'll probably work for amature road racing too.

"Next week on 'As the Honda-Cup turns' we'll see further debate on FWD vs RWD, we'll ask the real hard hitting questions like "Boxers or briefs?", a segment on how to shine up your aluminum wing for race day, and don't miss the 3 minutes of race coverage during the closing credits"

As expected... You can't please everyone. But I don't see any of the critic's actually making an effort to produce any alternatives... and there are a lot of amatuer series' that have been around a lot longer than Honda Cup but they are not getting much in the way of TV Coverage! However, I intend to make sure if this 2006 show does actually get produced it will be entertaining, it will have good racing coverage, It will be informative and yes, there probably will be some Drama for entertainment purposes only! The footage that was shot at Willow is just a taste of what's to come... If you don't want it, you know where the Off button is! or you can always switch to NASCAR!
Although unexpected, I think Marty's comments sure did stir up some interest Keep an eye out for a lot more in 2006.

Why are some race car drivers soooooo fat??? Do they "weigh in" the car with the driver? If so then my point is well.... pointless.

If I was fortunate enough to race on a professional level I would loose a few pounds (100 or so if I was that guy) cause that could mean that extra mph on the straight.

Ohhhhh and I LOVE Karma . I agree that RWD is better but what he said was not called for.

Most of the time, yes. Most race series rules call for a minimum car weight driver included!

First of all, we're talking amatuer level racing.

From what I have witnessed, a good number of drivers are older and may not be as active in their daily lives in order to stay in shape. Many of them are privateer/ weekend drivers. They come out and drive for the love of the sport while improving their skills. Now it would be different if they were driving for a team and it was their job. Then it would be up to that driver to do what he has to in order to win.
