Welp, this just happened. New core support for del Sol?
Went to jack up my 96 del Sol from the core support jack point, and behold! all of a sudden the car comes back down off the jack.
It appears some of the welds for the core support on the right side rusted out, gave way, and broke off. It's detached slightly from the frame rail behind it, as well.
Obviously this is a problem. What do I need to fix this? A core support? Looking at Majestic Honda, it seems I can buy components separately, but I want to repair this problem the right way vs. a hack. How much time am I looking at in terms of labor to fix this? My guess is I need to remove the entire core support, clean up any rust I might find behind it on the frame rails, prep them and weld in a new support, paint it, then rebuild everything from there. I have little welding experience and access to a flux-core arc welder. Can I drill the spot welds and then plug weld? Help, welders?
Where do I source a new core support? A local salvage yard?

So I need to get this thing off the ground now. What do I use as a front jack point to get jackstands under the pinch welds now? The LCA? The engine subframe?

Ebay has rad supports. If you can find one at a local pick a part yard, that would be the cheapest route.....or an oem one from honda thats expensive

On the bottom of the radiator support on this car, there is a little B-shaped jack pad. You can actually see it in the first photo since the support is bent upward. It's slightly right of center. It's the front jack point.
I have a core support + front frame rails being cut out of a '93 Sol for me as I type this. Cost $120. eBay does not have core supports for the del Sol. Majestic sells them for $460 or so not shipped. There are little to no generic body parts for the del Sol right now.

I always use the tow hooks in the front if I'm gonna jack up the front. its easier to replace a bent tow hook than a rad support.
