The Test... Porter Cable 7424 and 3M Rubbing Compound/PERFECT-IT III
So my momma just got a new Fit (it rocks...) but some ******* dog decided to jump up on the nice new paint and fubar it
this gave me the opportunity to convince my mother that I could do just as good of a job at removing the scratches as our insurance would do, but for $100 less! (our insurance carrier offers a MINIMUM deductible of $300 on paint damage... ugh)
So we ordered the Porter Cable 7424 from eshine.ca complete with 3 compound pads... orange white and black (medium, light, and finish)
I had the rubbing compound from previous attempts at scratch removal and overall refinishing (these compounds suck to use by hand trust me)
here is the damage....
this dogg must have been a hustla... mad rocks in his paws
heres the weapons..
now before you start up your kick *** polisher... watch this youtube video! its a complete how to video, and its good! and its for SPECIFICALLY this polisher. too good to be true, but it is
using the same techniques as shown in the above video i went to work... here are the end results
I am totally sold on the 7424 and the 3M compounds. Great stuff.
One word of warning... they try to make the PC 7424 seem like you cant mess up your paint with it. they LIE!! this bad boy spins fast and can easily remove paint from a raised area.. or of you use the edge of the pad to get in a corner it can be pretty harsh.
you can see here I burnt away some paint off the fueling door.
nothing $7's and some factory paint cant fix.
now go buy your own!
