Rust Proofing
Hey all, I just got myself a 1983 Civic Hatch. Since I know these things rust easily, I've been doing a lot of research into rustproofing the undercarriage. Any suggestions, or reliable products that have worked well for any of you? Thanks in advance!

Re: Rust Proofing
I have the same question. I also have small paint chips all over the car. I'm wondering how to fix/ protect from rust.

Re: Rust Proofing
Not sure if this will help but as a quick fix for small chips, you could look in to Dr. Paintchip / Chipfixx products (same company, just depends where you are located). They make easy to use paint/solvent kits for small chips that can also pretty easily deal with areas with lots of small chips. You would just want to make sure to dissolve or sand off any rust that has developed within any of the paint chips that you would be treating. They even have a kit called the roadrash kit. You can easily look up some videos and check them out to see if its up your alley.

Re: Rust Proofing
great. thank you. i quickly looked at the kit, it's an option that i can go to. Have you found out any more about rustproofing the undercarriage? if i found anything, i'll let you know.

Re: Rust Proofing
Hey awesome, I hope it works out if you go that route. Yeah I guess I am just wondering if anyone has experience with oil or wax based coating vs hard spray or paint on/enamel type coatings- even something like POR-15. From what I've read I wouldn't go with a rubberized undercoating though.

Re: Rust Proofing
i haven't found out what people use under the carriage yet. I just got some lithium grease spray to spray into the joints of moving parts, such as doors, tailgates..etc
