query on sandblasting(or shot blasting!)

right, to quickly explain waht im doing, im intending on going all out on my engine bay on my EK(i.e remove all threads, fill all holes and lumps etc.), the engine bay was painted by the previous owner but not to a good standard, and as i know you need to get it back to bare metal for the filler to adhere properly, that means i need to sand/DA the engine bay, which is a seriously long process, i saw one member used a sandblaster(shotblaster) to remove the paint, good idea i thought!

anywats to my question!, i cant find any info regarding whats the best "ammo" to use in the blaster to remove the paint, can anyone advise me on this?, and while ive started this thread, is there any "special" type of filler that needs to used in the engine bay? (just worried about the heat affecting it!)

sorry if this has been asked many times before, i just wanna get it clear in my head before i start with it all!

thanks in advance

aluminum oxide is what i use on like valve covers and stuff.. it works very well on metal... sounds like what you are doing is gonna take a while.. if you do, get a very good air compessor, and have at it, one that has lot's of CFM and PSI.. Try stripping the paint off, then blasting it in spots, might be easier to do it like that..
