it's the rattle can...it holds up perfectly over time, no issues here...after a few good wet coats and some good heat, it wrinkles up beautifully

Scuffing it off with sandpaper does a much better job than taping and takes less time. If you've already done a good job sanding the VC clean, it won't stick too badly to the tops of the letters and you'll be able to get them polished really fast and shiny with 180/250/400 or some similar progression. I recommend putting tape on the VC around the letters so you don't accidentally scuff your fresh paint while you're polishing the letters. Also, it helps to use a block to keep the paper flat so you don't start rounding off the letters.

USE SANDING BLOCKS, NOT YOUR HANDS
to sand off the leter. Unless you like the rounded letter effect, but with the block it looks more OEMish.

Re: Official: Post Your Valve Cover (56k warning)
I want to redo my H23VTEC's blue valve cover. Since there doesn't appear to be wrinkle blue paint available, I considered using wrinkle black, then coating it with light grey primer and finishing off with a blue that matches the OEM color.
Has anyone tried this? Or should I skip the primer and just lay down a few coats of blue instead? I'm afraid the wrinkle black base coat with make the blue too dark.

Dont use the primer, that will dull the wrinkle effect
Spray it with wrinkle black and put a few light coats of blue on it
