Default Metal specks now burnt into window

So about a month ago my civic was parked in the garage while i was cutting and grinding some metal on the workbench. Since its only a 1 car garage theres not alot of room in there obviously. I just realized today that while i was grinding away, apparently the million little specks of metal that were being thrown towards the car burnt/etched themselves into the glass. Any thoughts on if i can somehow refinish the glass to get rid of them?

What was on that one part of thw window where it looks like nothing it it?

If the wntire glass is all chipped, nothing you can do, short of replacing one.

Live with it or replace the glass.

I learned this lesson an even harder way, I was welding on my car and some weld splatter got on the glass. BANG! Shattered into 10,000 pieces....

Go down to the hardware store a pick up some large moving blankets to cover your car with when grinding or welding. They are pretty inexpensive and will save your paint and glass.

Typically a chrome polish and lots of elbow grease will help. Blue Magic makes a good chrome polish available at most auto parts stores (the crap with ammonia in it, so yeah it smells)

You can take a razor blade on a paint/gasket scraper handle and knock off some of the slag, but no amount of polishing is going to do much of anything for metal melted into glass. It's one of those things where you'll either have to live with it or replace the glass, if it's the windshield you almost have to replace it since you'll never be able to keep wiper blades on it or see in the sun.

To the OP, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it is likely that most of that is there to stay. You might be able to reduce the appearance of it somewhat but given that the glass itself is pitted it will never really go away.

The exact same thing happened to me a looong time ago except that nothing major happened until the first time I opened and closed the door (fortunately from the outside) and then *POOF!* the window vanished in a cloud of glass fragments. Your advice about the moving blankets is spot on.
