Front Fender Rust Fix
I am looking to fix the rust issue I have on my front fender. I have purchased so far:
Etching primer
Sandpaper
Grit
320
400
600
800
Gotta get higher grit also
Going to purchase my OEM paint online in spary can and clear coat can as well.
What else would I need for the job?
Wondering if this is the best way to go about fixing this issue. I am new to this. need opinions on best method to correct this. low on cash so looking at doing it myself. This is the only area I have rust at. The paint on the rest of the car is in excellent condition. This fender is in great shape except this part. Should I just take it to a shop? One picture is a little blurry but it show the extent of the rust.

Ya just looking to fix this small area and not the whole fender. Going to check prices for the fix also. Not sure how much it would run. Did not think I would need to replace the whole fender.

Re: Front Fender Rust Fix
you need lower grit, not higher grit.
tape off the outer edge so you don't sand it first of all, that way you don't have to paint the whole fender.
then hand sand the rust with 180 or something close to that until its all gone, etch prime it and paint it.
where in VA you live? if your close to MD i can have that done in about 10 mins

Re: Front Fender Rust Fix
I am in fairfax. You are an hour from me. Thanks for the help. I have no problem coming up there. I was still shoppin for what I needed. I kew I would need a lower grit to get it sanded to metal. But figured the higher grit to smooth out paint and clear coat. But this is new to me. I have the primer and tape to seal the area. I just need to order my paint and clear coat. Was going to order in spray paint cans. I will get the rest of the supplies this next payday. When I get them I wil send you a PM an see about headin your way. Thanks again for the help. Anything else I need? What can I give ya to compensate you for ya time, PM me and we can discuss it.
