can a brake booster be painted or powder coated?
So I'm detailing my bay and wanted to know what options I had for coloring my brake booster.
Ideally i would like it to get powder coated but i'm not sure if that's safe or not since I don't know what the internals of the booster is and if it would be okay in an oven.
if i can't do that I could just have paint shop paint it black with clear coat.

Not sure if it's true but I read somewhere that the heat from powdercoating the booster could mess up the diaphram inside. Didn't make any sense to me cause the engine compartment gets hot anyway.
I just painted mine and it came out perfect.

well the engine bay get's hot but only to maybe 100-150f.... when you powdercoat.... it's in an oven much hotter that than.
i'll look into painting it.
I just wanted to see if anyone else has been able to poweder coat the BB with out issues to the internal diaphram

Powder coated parts go into an oven at 400 degrees for around a half hour. Just had my valve cover done and was curious about the process so I asked a few questions. Just base/clear it. It's metal just like the fenders. No problems if it's prepped well.

i painted my valve cover with ppg and i have no problems, even driving around all summer on 8lbs. of boost. the paint has not failed. (sig)
i think painting your brake booster wouldn't be a problem with good prep and paint.
