Build Thread: 50$ Paint Job, EF style
Ok, I bought my EF with just under 99k miles, Motor was strong, everything works, interior was clean, body was OK.
First things first, for me, the color red doesn't work.
My car needed some body work and had one really big dent above the rear wheel. It needed to get fixed asap. I came across the 50$ paintjob thread a few months back and laughed. Didn't think id be doing it. Few months later I got the EF and first thing came to my mind was everything was going to be done by me. Built by me for me.
Blah Blah Blah
I went out and bought all thies supplys
2 Quarts Gloss White Paint
1 Quart Mineral Spirits
x2 6" High Denisty Foam Rolls
x2 6" Rollers
2000,1000,800,320,200,180 Grit Sand Paper
1 Can Glass White Spray Paint
Mixing Bucket
Touchup Foam Brushes
(Some Products aren't pictured, paint thinner was replace with mineral spirits)
Total : $52.14
Just over $50. Didn't bother me at all, besides I had to drive 30 min to get the mineral spirits since 6 stores by me didn't carry it. Enough Yapping, Onto the build..
Started off using block sanding, taking way too long.
Upgraded to a Electric Rotating Sander
Pics:
Still have more sanding todo, Didnt realise how thick it was on there.
Notes:
If your going to do this, give yourself a good day or two to sand and remove parts that would be in the way
Buy more sand paper then you think you need
Dont do it on a hot day

Sure hope it does, if not, I learned my lesson. Its only $50 so I'm not worried.

Re: (da9wonder)
Ill have lots more pics soon. Tonight I willnot have an update, bondo took a little longer to sand then I thought it would. Noticed I missed a few spots, I really hate working with bondo, I suck at it too, owell. If the rain holds off tomorrow, I will be laying down the paint, if not, then thursday I will since I have off work.

I thought I coughed up blood the first time I spit after sanding, then I realised it was paint dust, lol.

When I painted my car many moons ago... I thought the same thing. (My CRX was red too )

Re: (spooledhonda)
Well today, it was overcast all day, I applied more bondo to one dent that I wasnt happy with yesterdays bondo session. Again I hate this stuff, thank god its done. I went inside to take pictures and I came out and its raining I had to wrap my car with a tarp so I didn't have time for pics. Tomorrow if the humidity levels are low enough I should be bringing my car to my girlfriends garage and will be painting it in there. I'll have pictures tomrrow. Sorry for none today.

Re: (gourley)
Looking good so far . Just remember to let the car bake out in the sun for a few days then resand/paint because dem0nk1d is right. Non-sealing primer absorbs moisture and water .
