Re: The "$50 Paint Job" Thread
4 coats into doing mine. Wet sanded after the first coat 600 grit. Then 1000 after the second. 1500 after 3rd and 4th but still orange peel after each new coat. The paint seems thick enough to make me want to stop painting. My plan is, in a couple weeks, to wet sand 1500 then 2000 to get rid of the latest coat of orange peel then cut and polish. Should i bother with a fifth coat? If i'm not getting good results I suppose i can scuff and keep going. The roller strokes are evident until wet sanding. Hard to tell when to stop painting and polish it off. Any advice appreciated.

6th coat. Wet sanded smooth with 400. I had been using 1000 in between each coat but it was just too mild. Made it 50/50 thinner paint instead of 40/60. Filled in the orange peel nicely. Could probably do another coat or 2 but going to leave it as is. Still way better than the sun scorched condition it was before. Will do a mild polish in wax in a couple weeks. It seems like polishing is negligible. It's only going to be as good as your last coat. The paint seems to contain most of the gloss. Also, i used the black microfoam rollers this time instead of the white. More durable and a smoother stroke.

Re: The "$50 Paint Job" Thread
Ay ya'll I sanded my RTAWD wagon down and sprayed it cream with Rustoleum about 8 months back, job came out pretty good and after a little wet sand and buff with Mcquires it even has an alright shine to it. Just curious though, if I were to ever get it painted at a shop, will I have to sand past the rattle can?
