My BugEye Wagon Build Thread
Took the engine out to have it rebuild .. Most likely keep things basically stock since it's my daily driver.. But I'm getting that itch to do more ..
It was PITA to take the engine out ..
There is so many misc. things to get to before I even think about upgrading anything.. Ill keep doing updates as things progress ..

Have fun man! I love my WRX wagon. It's a lot different than the Hondas I grew up with, takes a little getting used to at first!

^^ that's a process I can tell you ..
You have to hoist the engine and support the tranny on a jack stand to clear the motor mount studs .. Then remove the clutch fork pin .. Everything else is pretty much like any other car ..

Just the basic mods (big TMIC, more boost, catless uppipe/exhaust, tune etc) that some would refer to as a "Stage II." When the stock engine goes she will be getting the JDM EJ207.

Good progress, it is tough to avoid the mod bug with these cars. I told my wife I was leaving mine stock, didn't last long lol.
Before the inevitable question, mine has VF39 and all the other supporting stuff for power, making ~270 WHP on 91. Lots of suspension stuff, Brembos and assorted brake mods, pretty minimal on looks aside from the Morettes with HIDs, and fancy wheels haha.

Re: My BugEye Wagon Build Thread
Dude those engines are probably the easiest engines on earth to remove. Takes the average person about 45 minutes to do.
If I were you, I would've just done an EJ257 swap w/forged pistons and deleted AVCS so you wouldn't have to mess with wiring. Would've yielded more power and cost about the same price as the EJ20 rebuild.
Word of advice: With the engine out, get a catless up pipe and plug your EGT port. The cat on your up pipe WILL fail someday and it's not that easy to remove while it's on the car, but will take you 10 minutes to do with the engine out. I got my up pipe from Invidia, but found that any cheapo POS china made ebay up pipe will perform just the same. Catless up pipe will also get rid of a little bit of turbo lag.
