Re: KZO-513 = Build Part 2
So oxer decided to finish the front drivers side.
It was raining pretty heavy and he was planing on using the clothes line pole to bend a curve into the sheet. He found the next best thing..

He also did a little bit of stitch welding, wont make much difference, but meh.

Then he broke the top off a bottle of beer.... Since its against the law to waste alcohol, he did what any man would do, use paint filters and filter the beer into another empty bottle.

Time to make the mounting points for the rad support which he is yet to make.

Over the years brake fluid had taken its toll on the drivers rail. Surface rust covered it all the way under the car and it had even caused rust under some of the painted surfaces. Toli got under and brought it all back to clean, bare metal.

Oxer finished shaving the holes on that side, Cleaned it up and put it in etch primer.

And thats as far as we got, by next weekend we hope to be at the same point on the other side.

Re: KZO-513 = Build Part 2
So Oxer finished the metal work about 6 weeks ago..... His been busy with many things and at the end of the year will no longer have space at his house to do work like this, so we are VERY VERY Greatful...
Anyway....
Cooler, radiator and oil cooler are all mounted to the rad support, and can be removed with it.

The bonnet(hood) doesn't sit 100% because the rubbers aren't in it.
The car is now back at home where it will undergo further modifications.

Re: KZO-513 = Build Part 2
update guys,
my bro toli decided to make Labour Day long weekend holiday worth while...
he loaded up the s2k broken gearbox & the PPG gear set into the bak of his daily fg falcon UTE and headed for SA...
he was fortunate enuf to stay with friends which made the trip cheaper...lol
on Sunday, Sam Charlick from Neat Gearboxes contacted Toli to meet at his shop and drop off the goods...
Sam is a awesome guy, he spent over an hour with Toli showing him his parts that we pre-paid for and the new shop inside out...
after smashing first gear here is wat we have discovered so far...
What you’re looking at is the auxiliary gear (PPG call this the drop gear).
It munched the oil pump drive gear.

some more from SAM...
Some more pics of the main gear set.
2nd gear on the input shaft is no longer present, haha.
The shards went through the box, through the pump and spat into the auxiliary gears, killing them too.

Re: KZO-513 = Build Part 2
got some more news from SAM (Neat GearBoxes)
After all the cleaning, Sam spent some time gouging out small broken gear particles from the aluminium.
He found about 10 chunks like this by running a magnet around the case.
The last thing we would want is these little bits running through our new gear set or oil pump.
Here’s the assembled gear sets.
and setting up the bearing clearances.

Re: KZO-513 = Build Part 2
Ok ok...
Sorri guys, its been a lil slow as we have been waiting on the panel and paint shop to have a free spot for us...as they do a lot of insurance work and can only take on 1 to 2 non insurance jobs at a time...
As of Monday...
We didnt expect any movement or work to b carried out for at least 2weeks...
But my bro went past last night...
and
Front guards in high fill
Doors and in the background u can see boot is in high fill...
Its hard to see...but the roof is pretty much rubbed back to bare metal...
Enjoy till next time

Re: KZO-513 = Build Part 2
ok guys, so I managed to pop past the panel shop on Tuesday and happened to walk in at just the right time...
and yesterday (Thursday 4/9/14) my bro got a call asking for the paint colour and code he has chosen...
so...
my bro went passed this arvo to check the progress on prep work...
genuine hole-less/spoiler-less boot...
due to a previous owner bird **** stain, the roof had to be bare metal finished
next update will b painted...
