There are still several Toyota purists in the AE86 scene. More and more engine swaps have been gaining popularity, both from within the Toyota line of engines and from outside.
3SGE, 3SGTE, 1UZ-FE, 2JZGTE, 1JZGTE, SR20DET, CA18DET, F20C, F22C, 13B, 20B,
4AGE 20V, 22RZ-FE. At one time there was an individual on Club4ag who was developing a swap for a K20A into the AE86...but I don't know how that ended up.

agreed. i actually was piecing together parts for a K24a2 turbo swap for my MR2.
i still love the sound of a 20v ae86 and a MK1 MR2. now a K20 MK1 would be killer...

Lol, he has one on the front bumper support as well. There was a specific reason for it. This car is going to be doing a lot of road course and drifing events. Some of the courses he goes to have pretty deep sand pits. In some cases its beneficial to have the tow hook up higher.

the black 86 is so clean. i have a friend who has just started to look for a corolla and s2k motor setup to swap. if anyone in the sf bay area knows of a clean ae86 or cheap s2k send me a pm.
