The evolution of my slow Evo (a build with patience)
Well, after owning my Evo for about 4 years all stock I decided I would "just buy a cat-back" last December. Well of course that turned into a MBC, Vibrant filter, 255 fuel pump, 9 10.5 turbo and a tune. Mustang dyno it put down 304whp/302tq. It was leaning out at 27psi but 0 knock count. Then I purchased a Megan 3" downpipe, STM test pipe, AMS intercooler, AMS lower pipe, custom welded GReddy upper ic pipe by GReddy, Perrin short shifter w/billet bushings. This time it put down (same dyno) 360whp/360tq at 28psi on 93 octane again. That was my last tune but of course I've still been at it, I decided to black my interior out, installed Bilstein HD shocks and Swift Spec-R springs, Diff support bushings by Buschur, full race bushing set and I'm FAR from done. I started this thread because this is just the beginning, I will be updating this as I go thru this winter and next spring with major mods, paint, JDM lights, JDM rear bumper, Voltex spoiler on cf, Advan RGII rims and the list goes on. This is a build and restoration, I drove it in 2 winters so there are small things with rust, everything will either be replaced, painted or powder coated. When the engine comes out, I will be doing a full wire tuck as well.
Pictures go from right before any mods and on. The car was stock with an Evo 9 Mivec 4g63 engine...
Only regret so far is this junk bov
Now currently as it sits...
So, next on the list follows in order
Perrin rear sway bar
Whiteline front sway bar
Tein camber plates
Anodized red lower control arms adjustable
Whiteline roll center kit
Max lock rear differential
FP HTA green turbo
Toxifab forward facing manifold
Toxifab O2 dump to atmosphere
Toxifab external dump from Tial wastegate
twin Toxifab catch cans
AMS fuel rail
FIC 1050 injectors
MAP 2.4L long rod engine
S3 cams
Beehive valve springs
Head/manifold/tb port by yours truly
Spoolin up COP
STOCK ECU!
Autopower roll cage welded
Some of the parts are already bought and are sitting on a shelf, others are on the way and some parts will be ordered very soon. I do all installations myself, the only thing I don't do is tune.
This build will redline around 8500rpms which is why I'm choosing such a relatively small turbo to motor. Yes E85. Stay tuned, literally. I'll update as I go, sometimes very often, other times may be a bit in between. All power mods are to be done by opening spring events.

Re: The evolution of my slow Evo (a build with patience)
looks good so far, i think you need some JDM 8 MR tails and the 8 MR flatblack housing headlights, the 9 jdm rear would look good on there as well.
Anywhoo keep up the good work, and keep us informed

Lots of talk the last couple days, working with a couple new sponcers for next season. I've been talking with a few awesome tuners and it sounds like I'm switching turbo directions and going for either an FP HTA 3586R or most likely a PTE T3 6466 forward facing setup. I'll have my final decisions made soon and will be updating soon! As for tails, going JDM 7 red and a JDM rear bumper but that will be spring time, for now it's power mods on the mind.
I would have gotten more done but unfortunately my newly aquired Civic has been giving me problems...shutters from a dead stop, a cracked manifold and the switch for my wipers doesn't work. As for the trans shutter, it shifts perfectly, it's only from a dead stop it "thumps" into gear.

Huge updates here soon to come. I've had a lot going on in the last year or so and the car had to be put to the side for quite a while but now I'm back at it. Tons of pictures on the way. Me and Tom at TScompusa are going to push my stock 9 turbo/stock 9 block as far as possible before doing a turbo/motor upgrade. I should have about 450hp/400tq from her. Stay tuned. Sorry it took so long, no trolling going on here.
EDIT: big reason for the huge delay was my Civic breaking down. Nothing major wrong with it but just constant small things keep going wrong.

Pics at the end of 2012 season
Scrapped all the crap parts like that HKS bov, lots of parts on the way :D here's a pic of it's current state.
While I'm waiting for parts to get here I'm smoking out my headlights on the inside, moving my battery to the trunk and removing AC. This will be a street driven scca street modified stock block beast. If anyone happens to need Evo parts, I just might have what you need. I have a lot more fs than what's pictured here.

Re: The evolution of my slow Evo (a build with patience)
Also just ordered a Grimmspeed 3 port, tapped the fuel tank with AN's and two braided lines with two check valves for a quick easy clean tank drain to swap fuels, it'll be SO nice being able to drive it to the track on 93, swap to E85 for the races, then driving home on 93 again even though majority of the time it'll be trailered back and fourth and on ethanol 90% of the time. I can't wait to see what Tom at TScomptuned can get out of my car on stock block/self ported 9 turbo.

Re: The evolution of my slow Evo (a build with patience)
Forward facing turbo kit in the works, I know my parts list keeps changing but that's what happens when you build a car over time. I'm looking at a Toxifab forward facing manifold, downpipe and WG test pipe hood vented, a mini radiator, new hoses, Spoolin' Up coil on plug ignition. I would post pictures of the turbo kits I'm considering but I don't have them, I'm deciding on sticking with local shop STM or going Toxic for the hot parts and as for the turbo, either an STM PTE CEA 5558, 5858, 6262 or 6466 turbo. Torn. Another option is an FP HTA Garret 3586R. I just need my block to last the whole season then next winter me and Tom at TScomptuned.com are going to build a 2.3L by hand. Also have GSC S3 cams coming with Kiggly valve springs. Pretty stoked to say the least

slight update on things I've been working on...
Picture of the air duct I started with vs the final product= a gauge and switch

Re: The evolution of my slow Evo (a build with patience)
How this all began...
Well last season I decided to make myself a custom gauge pod since I'm not a fan of the triple setup people run where the radio gets relocated so I contacted Tim, the creator of the ash tray pod about making me a setup.
First off, Tim is a GREAT guy! He is SUPER friendly and was nice enough to drive to my work to see what I was dealing with and what I wanted. Then he put quite a few hours into designing and printing the piece. He refuses payment for his time but I will surely be throwing him some money soon!
Last season I used a piece of wood and bondo and it got the job done but from the summer heat, then winter cold the edges started cracking which caused the paint to chip and crack, plus it wasn't nearly good enough for my liking. Here's the progress at the very start
Yes, everyone in my house told me I'm crazy
The rest of the dash remains the same except the new gauge pod/switch pannel.
I wanna give a HUGE thanks to Tom asa Tfresh (on Evom) he does excellent work and is very knowledgeable and incredibly easy to work with. Without him this wouldn't have happened for me and I couldn't possibly be happier with the outcome.
Before pics I want to say this is a 1 piece unit, made out of pure ABS plastic.
This is how I received it from Tim...
After a lot of sanding because it has to be 100% perfect for me to like it.
Final pictures not installed, I primed it with Duplicolor sandable, then painted it in Harley-Davidson texture flat black
This is simply a mock-up, once I re-arrange the gauges in my car I'll fully install it and I'll be adding pictures of my all blacked out interior.
The only other thing I need to do is paint the vents themselves gloss black just to make both colors pop and make some kind of border for around the hazard switch so there's no gap at all. I'll be adding final pictures once my interior is together. {thumbup}

Re: The evolution of my slow Evo (a build with patience)
^thank you sir. The hold up has been deciding between an FP black turbo setup and a GT3582R kit. I think I've settled on the FP turbo so final spring pictures/dyno graphs will be up soon.
