Default '93 Chevy C1500 - LS5.3/Auto Swap

Working on the '97 Prelude now because I'm tired of driving around in trucks all the time.....but this is my toy that I've had for 7 years now. She's seen a lot. Gonna skip all the transformations. This is what it's like currently.

'93 C1500
Lowered almost 3/5 I'd say with Hotchkis Springs all around
LS 5.3L V8 and 4L60E from a 2002 Silverado
'96 interior swapped in
'94+ nose

First motor was a TBI 4.3L V6
Second motor was a 355 V8 I had built. Made 367HP/425TQ. Pulled it out because honestly I hated fooling with the carburetor setup I had on it.
Both of those were paired with a TH375 3 speed trans.

Mid 90s styling, LOL.

I really like it. The LSX makes it that much cooler.
I love the thought of an older pickup with updated drivetrain!

How hard was the swap to do?

Easy at worst. All I had to do was wire in a harness I bought, extend a few things, make up a relay for torque converter control, made my own trans and fuel lines, bend my stock shift linkage a little, and weld the exhaust in.

Heck, it was harder to take the core support out to get the motor and trans in together as one piece than it was to hook it up and make it run.

Best part is, I had the PCM tuned, used my scan tool to find two sensors that were pinned wrong at the connector, fixed those, and she's been running like top ever since. Hasn't thrown a single engine light code for any reason in the year and 5 months since the swap was done.

Thats awesome.

I'd like to do the same thing one of these days. I need a pickup for some light towing and one of these with a 6.0 would be fun.

Yep. Even the 5.3L is a beast in this little truck.

Man, with the way gas prices are hiking I may lift it back to stock height for truck duties and sell my '05 Silverado and daily the '97 Prelude

Really like your truck and love the clean tasteful mods! I have an 02 Silverado that I daily with the exact same engine/trans combo and even completely stock with dumped exhaust I've surprised some people around town.

Clean truck. Excellent choice of drivetrain.

I bet it pulls pretty hard; that truck can't weight too much.

It runs pretty stout. I figure rounding up and pressing luck the motor may be good for 300HP at the crank. It has a really aggressive tune on it. It runs door to door with older Mustang GTs. Not that those were exactly fast, but it's not bad for a nearly 4,000lb pickup truck. I'm hoping to get some 1/4 mile times this summer.
