street. I believe the vega rear end has 3.42 gears but I still have to open the case and check. I think the th350 will be alright for now with a 3500 stall converter. That means it will stall around full boost.

That should make for a very fun ride off the line. Nothing beats a high-stall converter for good launches.

Re: 1973 chevy vega GT (iam7head)
I got the wiring all figured out. I got the pistons in the block. I just need the turbo, cylinder head, and some interior stuff. Ive been set back with a problem. The pitman arm hits to oil pump so Im going to have to install a rack and pinion steering. I have the parts to do that. All i need to do for the rack and pinion is fabricate some mounts. So its getting there I guess

I puled the pistons back out and re gapped the top rings to .025". then I swapped out the stock rod bolts for some ARPs. Got my new carpet, and another cylinder head.

-i'd clean up that block surface a little better, especially if using a multi-layer head gasket. that **** should be glass smooth. these motors will eat head gaskets from improper installation, warps in surfaces and the added compression.....

yeah it still has a little gasket material on it I need to get a bar sander or something. Ill tear down the engine again to to get the top of the block faced if I have to. A friend of mine is selling me 2 world class t5s they both came from a v8. I have a bellhousing from a 2.3. does the shaft have to be shortened? If thats the case then I can do the machining.
[edit] maybe I wont get the top of the block faced because that would change the piston-cylinder head clearance.

Its not too bad, I never got a chance to take it to the track, but it gets it pretty good. The motor is pretty stock other than a fresh rebuild and a Ford Motorsports hyd. roller A237 cam. A few months ago, before I had a daily driver, I was driving home in the rain and ran off the road. There was no cosmetic damage to the car but the accident pushed the passenger side shock tower up a bit and insurance gave me about $5000 to fix the car, so its all apart right now. I've got a few plans for the car and it will be going again by the spring time.

5 grand. nice. but still sucks that you went off the road. I got a quote on a valve job. this is for 1.89 intake and 1.59 exhaust stainless valves. I need to get new seats cut and the vavles need to be ground. It will cost around $310. then I need to port the cylinder head.

Yeah, I cant wait to get it rollin again. The head is real easy to port because of how simple the design is, you can get in all the ports real esay. What kind of turbo set up are you gonna be running?
