CR-V or Pilot?
My wife needs something a bit higher than her 02 accord so we were thinking of those two options. I've read a lot of things about CRV transmissions having problems, a few quirks with the pilots as well. I'm just looking for opinions to help guide my decision. Which model is more sound than the other . If only all cars were manuals.

Re: CR-V or Pilot?
Speaking from experience. My mother had an 09 for a few years and my GF just bought an 11 last year. They both liked the CRV. I would buy one as a DD. I could get 28-30 mpg on the interstate and driving around in the country (both were AWD EX-L's). The crv does not have a 3rd row but it still seats 4 people comfortably. The 2.4ltr engine has plenty of power and really my only complaint is there are no cup holders up front on the dash. the are in the middle and are lower that I would like. There is decent cargo space in the rear for the size of the crv.
I cant talk to much about the pilot.

Re: CR-V or Pilot?
Thanks for the reply. I am aware of the space difference between the two, and gas is a bit of a factor especially if the price jumps this summer like they predict. Cup holders don't bother me too much, I've always been on the fence about the flip up center console though. It was neat on my dad's 1st gen but as the CR-V moves upscale (sort of) I think that should be reconsidered, unless the '12 is fixed in place. Man maximum machine minimum I guess.

Love my '06 Pilot - not so big on the latest Pilot model however. Seriously ugly IMO and also bigger without a corresponding increase in the engine power.
So, when upgrade time finally comes I may have to switch over to an Acura MDX.

Re: CR-V or Pilot?
I've owned both the crv 2005 and now currently own a 2011 pilot ex-l. Both very nice, the 2.4 is a bit underpowered IMO but does ok. It did fair on MPG about 24-25 highway but for a 4cylinder I expected a little more out of it. The pilot has great power. It's very spacious and comfortable and has plenty of power and towing capacity. I'm able to tow my 24ft Everglades fishing boat which is about 3500lbs with ease. Down here on the coast of texas with generally high winds I see an average of 19mpg city and highway, when I go inland MPG goes up to about 22. This is a fwd EX-L model. I would imagine in MA seeing I'm from CT that you will get an average so 20-22
