Theft Insurance!!
Just because soo many cars have been jacked lately, and everyone keeps saying "do you have full coverage?" thought I would just make a thread so everyone can benefit from the information my insurance agent helped me with.
Theft Coverage, also known as Comprehensive Insurance is what covers Fire, Theft, and Vandolism. It's a Honda owners best friend becuase we all know the increased theft percentage in this country above all other manufacturer's.
You don't have to have Full coverage to have comprehensive insurance.
For example, I only have liability and comprehensive coverage. So I'm covered if someone hits me(with or w/out insurance) and covered for fire, theft, and vandolism.
If you do go with comprehension, something I do that my agent at Statefarm recommended, is anytime you purchase a new part, fax the receipt to your agent, and have them readjust your aproximate value or your car. that way, if your car is stolen and just the suspension is stolen when you recover the car, you can show them the value of the item that way they can properly reimburse you. It also helps to have photos of the item on your car, it's not necessary but I recommend it and have it on file with my insurance company.
Also, if you have an alarm, make sure your insurance company knows that. Statefarm doesn't give a discount for it, but I know of other companies in the past that have given a small discount for those who take steps in protecting their vehicle. And the insurance company likes that since it reduces the risk of them having to pay out if something happens to your car.
Comprehensive insurance is very inexpensive(about $12 a year for my 66 mustang that's covered up to $15k) and it's also a good option if your building a car or storing it for winter months. I had my mustang stored under a temporary garage and it collapsed on the car from the snow. The damage was covered under Comprehensive.
Hopefully this will clear up some stuff for my fellow honda owners.

Re: Theft Insurance!!
^^this is correct. Liability= covered if it's not your fault, compehensive=theft, fire, vandolism, collision=covers if you hit someone.

Re: Theft Insurance!!
i think you mixed it up a little though
liability = pays the OTHER person in an accident if you are at fault
comprehensive = theft fire vandalism
collision = covers YOUR car whether you are at fault or not

Re: Theft Insurance!!
This is incorrect. You have to have uninsured motorist if you want to be covered by your insurance company, if the other party doesnt have insurance.
Another thing to touch on, is the coverage. Its wise to bump up the covage just a hair. The state minumum is 10k property and 25k for injury. Most insurance companys will quote you at the lowest rate to get your business, but in reality 10k worth of coverage will hardly cover a pile of **** kia.

I just had my car broken into too. They stole my deck (with no face) GPS, Cell, phone, fishing poles. I have full coverage but they wont cover anything but the deck. My homeowners insurance will cover the stuff but its a 500 Detectable. I need to find an insurance company that covers stuff left in the car. But it was my fault for leaving that stuff in my car. None of it was visible though......

Re: Theft Insurance!!
I have full coverage on my coupe with $5000 in aftermarket parts coverage.
I figured $113 a year to cover $5000 worth of parts was a pretty good deal...lol
If my car was to get stolen (knock on wood that it won't), I have all the receipts for everything that I have purchased and the insurance company took like 20 pictures of my car.
