Re: Recommended Nor Cal/ Bay Area Driving Roads
well heres my typical canyon run in the bay area. Highway 9>skyline road>la honda/hwy 84>pescedero road>hwy 1. its a pretty nice drive that takes you to the coastline, and i usually stop at halfmoon bay for food gas and whatever else i need before i head home.

Redwood Road (long and fun, take it easy though occational police)
Pinehurst Road (connects with Redwood road)
McEwen Road/Carquinez Scenic Drive (my home course. be careful in really low cars, lots of bottoming out points if youre going a little quick and dont have a super tight suspension)
Grizzly Peak Road (awesome at night watch out for deer though)
Marsh Creek Road (links clayton to antioch/brentwood i believe)
Happy Valley Road/Bear Creek Road (good long road, gets really tight in a couple spots including a nasty hairpin around a single tree)
Palomares Road (relaxing drive not too intense)
Calaveras Road (super fun on a sunny day)
Sierra Road/Felter Road (links up with Calaveras for a good long run)
Mt. Hamilton Road/San Antonia Valley Road (also known as 130, long long run)
Highway 9 (near skyline and 84 for a good long run)
Lucas Valley Road (up in the north bay, plus you pass george lucas' mansion from a distance)
Highway 128 & 121 (north of napa, good fun roads)
Highway 29 (way up near calistoga but a lot of fun if you have a full day to drive there and back)
I have a million more it seems like but that's a good amount for now, if you really want a full on day of almost non stop twisties then follow this route:
-Start in Crocket
-Take Carquinez Scenic and Mcewen to Franklin Canyon Road
-FCR drops you in Martinez on Alhambra, take that over to Happy Valley
-Get on Bear Creek from Happy Valley
-Bear Creek links back up with Happy Valley to take you into Moraga
-Take Moraga Road to Pinehurst
-Hit Redwood Road going south when Pinehurst dead ends into it
-End up in Castro Valley from Redwood, take short trip through town to Palomares
-Take Palomares to 84 and go east to end up on Calaveras Road
-When Calaveras splits go east to get on Felter/Sierra
-F/S dumps you in Berryessa (the town), take a short trip thru town to Mt Hamilton road
-Take Hamilton over to San Antonio and end up in the Central Valley
It's an all day event to do this and the quick little routes through the towns give you time to take a bathroom break or get a snack. Be sure you map out the route before hand as some of it's a little confusing, use Google Earth.

Re: Recommended Nor Cal/ Bay Area Driving Roads
For those in the Sac Area, ...I'm usually going on solo cruises to relieve some stress. Either I head East on the 50, turn North bound 49, head back West on the I80, stop by D&B's for a quick bite and games, and head back to Sac, ...or head to Napa Valley via Lake Berryessa for all the twisties and scenes, have some lunch almost anywhere in Napa, grab a bunch of bottles of wine for my home's wine fridge, and then head back to Sac via I80 since by then I'm still buzzin' a little.
Anywhere along Highway 1 is also really nice.

Re: Recommended Nor Cal/ Bay Area Driving Roads
Depends on which part. From Fremont to 680 may be cool, but just be careful and maybe have a friend way in front of you to spot (not for cops, but for other people just in case.) You don't want to loose control and get other innocent people hurt.
The other part of 84 (after 680) IMO is a death trap if you want to push it. Too many blind curves, tight one lane wide at parts. And people do live out there so there are residents that come in-out of that place.
