How many of you people living in Maine have an aftermarket exhaust system? Do you have trouble getting it inspected.

I guess modification to your exhaust will supposedly prevent you from getting a sticker.

Any advice or feedback will be appreciated.

I live in northern Maine and have my state inspection license, the law says that it must be securely attached and not used to amplify noise.

Up here where I live they could care less about exhaust. My friend has a skunk2 exhaust and had no trouble getting it inspected. But he did fail for a bad ball joint.

I saw you live in York county so you don't have to do an emissions test. Stay away from actual dealerships and go to a wierd garage out in the middle of nowhere. Dealerships that I have talked to are usually more strict about inspections as they don't want to risk losing there inspection abilitys.

Thanks for the reply. I wanted to put a 2.5 inch exhaust on my civic because I'm planning to turbo charge it. I just don't want to run into problems with inspections. They are pretty strict at most of the places down here in southern maine.

I can get inspected but the law states that it must not exceed 95db's and be certified. that does not usaly matter for anything but court. If you get a can (open muffler) it is not suppose to be inspectable but if you got a reg looking muffler like a lope or a world sport you should not have a probblem.

agree! But it is usaly not to hard to find someplace that will inspect it well where I live.

Up in the greater Bangor area I can get anything you need inspected.. we have a nice ghetto little garage in Hampden and they dont give a f*ck

I go to Meineke in Brewer. got a 2.5 inch exhaust, its soooo damn loud and throaty im thinking about getting something different. But at Meineke, when the guy came it to the office after looking it over i asked hime whether it passed or failed... his exact words were this "that car is special." Anyways, it passed. They've done all of my inspections, from my itr swapped civic to my current car. Basically the check the lights. Check the underbody for rust and check brakes.

damn, it was the only one around locally that i knew of. Which probably means the insurance company auctioned the car and someone is profiting from my old stuff grrrrr

Yea it was a green 96-2000 not sure what year. It was in orono.

yea about that time it was in there for ever. I sent a email just saying it was a cool car. I got an email back saing well buy it. I had no monies.
