GSR swap in RI?
 

Hey so I'm from RI and am looking at buying a 96 ej8 with a 96 gsr swap. Everything is OBDII. The car is from mass and passes inspection there, I am just wondering if I am going to have any difficulties with registration and inspection in RI. I did search both on forums and the RI DMV site. Any help would be great, thanks.

RI is the same as MA when it comes to testing.

I was told mass doesn't require emissions testing for anything that old, but as far as I can tell RI does. Should it pass emissions since both are OBDII and the same year? I just don't want to buy this and find out I can't drive it.

mass is 15 years or older is exempt. but if it's got an obd2 usdm ecu and no check engine light, it should pass.

It's got an Itr ecu. I assume usdm. But if not the seller has the factory ecu as well. And nope no check engine light.
