I might come down with it, as long as you guys are friendly with a basic GSR lol. I know a lot of my VW friends go to these.

    HEY CPT.
What are you guys doing/planning for traffic.

That intersection at 301 is horrible, not to mention the stadium is on the same road as a BJs and HomeDepot.

This could make for major headaches for all parties involved and local law enforcement.

    Thanks for your reply.

We know 301 is a nightmare so we will strive to keep people on route 50 as long as possible. The drive on 301 is literally about a half a mile so it shouldn't be too bad. An alternative is to hit 197 (collington road) to divert some of the traffic to go the opposite direction north on 301.

Home depot? Puh... who cares. BJ's? Yeah we will end up stealing a bunch of their parking spots. They will probably prevent us from holding the event there again next year (plus the lot is smaller than previous years) but it is worth the outcome and the commotion.

There is two entrances to the ball park road. We already have permission from Baysox to conduct traffic starting around where BJ's splits. We will have a private 3 lane road all the way to the meet. The cars will start lining up from there.

If you want to help out with traffic conducting and you are a student at UMCP, log into collegeparktuning.com to check out what you can do. Otherwise, it should be another great turnout, deep with clubs and sponsors, awesome lineup for the live dyno's, raffles with sick prizes (talk to Turbo XS), girls, sexy cars (and sexy girls of course), and more!

Wow, that is quite a terrible mindset for someone trying to organize a legitimate event. What about those who attend the event and park in said BJ lot and get towed?
The issue is that most people will be making a left at the light off of 301 and could back up traffic tremendously and cause for accidents if they run the light (since they probably don't want to get separated from their friends). Add that to the normal heavy traffic into a BJs and Home Depot and it seems to make for no fun for all parties involved.

This type of thinking seems to be why the event last year failed.......

    Matt

thanks again for your input and reminding HT about the failure last year.

For addressing traffic again, we will be having a controlled traffic situation at the 301 intersection with most likely our paid police officers to help direct and insure traffic is smooth at all times. We will invest some time in this situation but the point of the matter is, no matter what you do, there will always be traffic. Ravens games? always traffic in the city. Big concerts at jiffy lube? traffic on 66. We will move cars as quick as humanly possible with lanes into the meet during the beginning portion and switch to two when the traffic slows down and circulate.

It is not that we do not care about Home Depot. It is just that we do not see Home Depot as a huge threat colliding with traffic and their customers. Their location is more remotely further than BJ's and doesn't really concern us. (hence why i don't really care) BJ's does higher volume of customers and we are concerned about the meet lots overfilling into the gravel lot (yuck) and possibly BJ's because of their location being directly across from a lot we will be occupying. It is inevitable that people will still park at Home Depot and BJ's to walk into the meet just to not pay the petty $1 + can food fee. It's a question of how many are going to do it and is it going to be enough to **** off BJ's authorities.

Please do not assume our attitude towards the parking situation in nearby commercial lots is lackluster or basically throwing a middle finger at them. I can only make a prediction on what will happen and frankly, we are not in control of those who end up parking in other lots.

Bottom line: Be smart. Don't park at BJ's or Home Depot. Get there early so you can secure a spot and you won't have to worry about being towed or getting cited. The attitude I want to present to you is that... we got kicked off campus 2 years ago for causing too much traffic and basically being too big (which imho is not a bad thing) so we decided to take it off campus. Because of last minute complications, we could not run last years meet. This year, it is happening 100% and the Bowie Baysox stadium has graciously offered their stadium parking lot and food accommodations to hold our spring meet but honestly, it is way to small and we will look to increase our lot size for next upcoming spring meet. I am not saying we do not care if we get yelled at if stupid things happen like other attendees parking at BJ's.... On the contrary, I would not stress out of we are "kicked out" or forbidden to ever hold a meet at Bowie ever again... we are too big for the lot anyways.

Much love for the whole HT community and I hope to see a strong Honda presence like it has been in the past years.
