xentec hid conversion kit problem!!! NEED HELP!! :'(
so i recently ordered from ebay a xentec HID conversion kit for a little under 80 bux including shipping...ordered it sunday night...got to my doorstep wednesday afternoon...great shipping...great business...so i open up the kit...put the first driver side HID bulb in the headlight....fired it up...and it worked great...then the light started flickering...kept flickering...i just thought my original headlight wires were shorting cuz they looked a bit flimsy...so i fiddled around with them and then it worked...after i held the wires in that position...it started flickering again...then suddenly, it just shut off...i was like https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmileo.gif ...so then i tried firing it up again and nothin happend... switched the bulbs...other one didn't work...switched the ballasts...and both the bulbs worked..so then i figure its gotta be the ballast thats [freak]ed up...now in the instruction manual...it says, that if u repeatedly turn it on and off...the light could shut off automatically...going into some sort of safety circuit or somethin...so then how do i get it to turn back on??? i need a lot of help on this one guys so any comment would help a lot...if anyone has the number for xentec HIDs...i need it...thanx

Re: xentec hid conversion kit problem!!! NEED HELP!! :'( (infamouskillas)
HAHAHA this thread cracks me up. but read on.. i bought that same EXACT kit from ebay. and installed it into my 97 integra.. this is how
1. on the out port pins of the harness, you have to take a flat head screw driver and open up the gap just a bit. it will then snap into a tight fit 2. remove the stock O-rings from the stock bulbs, and use them to replace the new ones (replace the orange ones with the yellow ones) this will allow it the bulb plug to fit perfectly in your headlight arrangement 3. it flickers when you do not have the engine running.. 4. to reset the safety thing, unhook your battery for like 10 minutes, and re connect it, it should work, just make sure your engine is running when you try it again. good luck |

aight so today i decided to give it another shot wit my hid kit...or as they call it i guess...once again...one of the ballasts is the only one thats working...the other ballast has somethin wrong with it..what? i have no [freak]in clue..so i tried disconnecting my battery, waiting ten minutes...and then tryin it then...turned on the engine and then my headlights...nothin...idk what it is...like i said, one out of 2 ballasts is working...all of the necessary cables and adaptors are working and properly connected...none of the bulbs are burnt out, they both work...its just that one ballast...what does the ballast do anyway? what could be wrong with it? oh and i tried emailing the guy i bought it from...yeah, no response so basically i'm screwed....i'm just thinkin about making a complaint to paypal and gettin my money back...unless this shit starts working..please help https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif

Hey, I read your statement carefully and I am sure that there is some quality problem in the ballast, some production problem such as soldering, or bad component they use.
this bad component and unqualified production cause the currency instable, so it flick all the time I lost more than 20 thousands payment for such products before. to be frank, 80$ shipped is really hard to find the eligible xenon kit in the market. Good luck |

Re: (Urban_LegendGS-R)
i'm pretty sure he means 20k orders...

this is much more common than you think in these inexpensive kits, they have as high as a 10-15% failure rate. based on the brand I can virtually guarantee you that the ebay seller will not uphold the warranty for you either. Best of luck!

Re: (rsx-ct)
you silly pnp guys should consider a relay harness with a BOSCH relay I highly recommend this because although HID's run at a lower wattage they use a lot of power to ignite them. Burned wires and driving home with no lights are the last thing you would want. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/embeer.gif

Re: (aznlaoboi315)
shit i had that problem but my battery was just dying. i kept switching around bulbs and ballasts then it just worked. check ur fused and make sure ur lights aren't on high beam

Re: (laocivic)

Re: (Importn2oRacer)
Could not agree more about ebay!
As far as realys go, not so much the brand as much as wether they are sealed or not. We used sealed ones and they never really fail, but if they are unsealed water WILL get in there eventually. |
i got the same kit mines work fine i just had to use the hi beam another thing you can do is add a relay to it check out the12volt.com theres plenty of info there for hids

Re: (DynastyRacer22)
I have an 8k kit on my gsr and a 6k kit on my ls ... they have never given me any problems ... so far. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
6k is sooooo much more useful by they way! haha |
i avoided all that and wired mine with a relay

Re: xentec hid conversion kit problem!!! NEED HELP!! :'(
Hello I just have purchased on ebay as well the xentec hid conversion kit with the H4 type bulb. This was my first time installing a hid conversion kit so I followed the instructions that was inside the kit. And during installation I made sure all the connections are securely snug and fit and was not loose. I also made sure to put the 2 ballast on a flat surface in the engine compartment with heavy duty grey double tape (not the one that came with the kit) so it can never shake off (will wire tie the suckers to make it more secure). Now starting with wire installation I first worked on the wire that is already connected to ballasts. And with these I connected the wires with the connector plugs to the connector plugs on the the HID bulbs, but I first took out my old halogen bulbs out and then put the new HID ones inside the light housing and then plugged the wire in. Next I worked with the wire cable that needs to plug into the ballast, I plugged that into the ballast firmly and the other end that came with the flat male connectors, I connected the black wire to the ground on the stock oem headlight connector and the red wire connected it to the low beam power of the headlight connector. After making sure I had 1 ballast connected, I turned the headlights and when it did not start up, I thought to myself, maybe I did not connect this wire to the low beam but to the high beam so I unplugged the red wire and connected it to the other side(low beam connector). After switching things around, I turned it on once again and it started up fine so I used the adaptor that came with the kit to plug in the male connectors to the stock headlight connector, so it would nice and fit. I then started working on the second headlight (with the light off of course) and when I was done with the 2nd ballast, everything worked great, with no problems. Now the instructions said to turn on the lights for atleast 10mins to burn in the new HID bulbs so I did that while the car was off. I then cleaned up any little mess I had and after cleaning things up, more than 10 mins went by, I turned it off the new lights and I was very pleased with eveything. 1 or 2 days later, I was reading online, it would be better to use a relay to power up the HID lights but I did not think I would need it but to be safe I did it anyways(using stock wire connection setup, the ballast may demand more power, so using the stock wires, it may not have sufficent power to keep the light on and wires may get hot. Example: A coffee straw vs soda straw, hope you get my point). And when I finished installing the new relay, the power wire and the start up wires that connects to the stock headlight and the other wire that goes to the HID bulb...I am still very happy with the xentec conversion kit....it lights up the road just GREAT! Re: xentec hid conversion kit problem!!! NEED HELP!! :'(
Bought the xentec brand off ebay. Everything ran great until around 6months later, 1 of the ballast gave out. Tried many different types of wiring and still dead. Bought another pair of xentec's thinking it would be okay and boy did it suck badly. Both ballets never worked properly. The bulbs would flicker while turned on and flicker on and off while still on. I wired these directly to the battery to get the full power and still it came out flickering the same. Requested a replacement from an ebay seller and got another kit in the mail. These worked alittle better, it had lessss flickering but still flickered lol. Decided on another brand other than xentec and another style of ballast besides those simillar square looking box one's and for now, I am happy, lights are nice and bright-HID (5000k). I can see the road again.
