Wiring pnp eBay hid kit to use as hi beams in a retro
Soo I wan't to do a retro on my 99 civic, but I definitely do not want to lose my high beams. I was just curious about how difficult the wiring job would be. The PnP HID kit I have has a bi-xenon H4 bulb. I also have a scrapped eBay sh!tty "halo projector" housing which I have found a way to get the h4 bulb in (in the high beam reflector). I have the orignal H1 brights from the eBay housing with the 3-prong connector attached, so I'm assuming that's what I'd have to hack into. Thanks, and let me know if you'll need any pictures.

Right, I'm aware that I would need to get some D2s bulbs. In doing some research I have found a better option: using my eBay ballasts for now and using a harness to connect to the D2s'. I suppose my real question now is if OEM projectors such as the TSX's are a direct or close to direct fit to the eBay halogen projector housing.

Yeah I figured...
Would it be more or less of a hassle than using the OEM Civic headlights?
I figured it would be less, plus the Hi-beams are already there. Thanks.

youd be better useing oem lights
with the halos the space to put them is going to very small and tight, oems youll have space around them, i would recomend tl projects tho,
what do you mean high beams are already there? civics use 1 light for high low,
if you use tsx you will only have low, tls will give you the high low beam you want.

Well I would be ditching the halos and I'd modify the plastic piece which they were mounted on. The eBay housing has a halogen projector and a high beam reflector, so that's what I meant by the high beams are already there. Do you think that setup (tsx's and halogen brights) wouldn't be better than using TL projectors in the OEM housing? Btw, my left housing got cracked when by someone in a parking lot so I'd have to add that to my expenses on the retro. Thanks.

if you retro fit them you will not be able to have halogen highs, just low beam thats why i said tl. tsxs have seperate projectors for high and low beam, civics do not.
yes i think tls would be better or some other sort of bi xenon projector.
just my 2 sents but i would pick up some of thoses cheep *** ebay black hosings and then retro fit those.
tl projects with zkw lenses are GREAT.

Yeah I know that bout the lights, if you read my first post you'd see that I have a pair of eBay "projector" housings already I am gonna use which have the halogen projectors and the brights. I just ordered my parts so when I'm done I can post pics

The wiring? or using the eBay lights?
And if you're sayin it so easy....is that bad ?
And Re my initial question...I'm not considering doing the PnP in my brights anymore cause I ran out of cash to get to ballasts, but to wire the high beams in you just shove its prong into the three prong connector? Do you have to have both connectors connected for them to work? because I tried plugging in my old lights, off the ebay housing, into one of the plugs and no deuce.

Re: Wiring pnp eBay hid kit to use as hi beams in a retro
it's easy to do both.
the wiring is really simple too.
ballasts need a few secs to warm up so having HID's for your hi beams is, and I'm sorry to say this, retarded. Don't fall into that category.
your car shares a single negative. So, you're going to have to share the negative wire with both your hi beams and low beams.
You need a diode in there though from your positive hi beam to your positive low beam. Your car shuts off the low beam once the hi-beams have been activated. So, with a diode, the low beams won't shut off but rather there will be an open current to your low beams.

I wouldn't recommend HID's for your brights. Ballasts do not like be turned on and off constantly. However, the life will depend on the amount of on/off cycles.

Yeah I saw that too, I'm not going that way anymore. I do live in the country but it would still be impractical. I'm just using a pnp-d2s harness so I can just use my eBay ballasts for the retro. Hopefully they'll last until I get some cash.
