Want to remove HID lights

Hey,

I am having problems with my HID's. I bought my 1999 civic CX hatch about a year ago. It came with a HID kit, probably one of those cheap ones. Anyways I hate it. The lighting is poor and as of recent they randomly stop working and then start working again when I turn the car off and then back on.

Anyways I would like to remove the HID's and replace them with OEM lights. I have done some searching, which has provided me with conflicting information. Can I just take them out and put in normal bulbs? Or do I need to change out some things?

Thanks,
Fraser

Remove the HID kit. Bulbs, ballasts, and all wiring associated with them. Put halogen bulbs in, connect using factory plugs.

Yeah this had nothing to do with foglights.

Tools required to change headlight bulbs:

1) Assorted working fingers.

Alright so I got my new bulbs and I went to put them in and I have come across some problems.

On the drivers side it was easy to find the plug, I plugged it in and it worked. but there is no way to secure it into the housing. Does anyone know what part number I need?

The second problem is that I cannot find the plug anywhere on the passenger side. Anyone have a diagram to point out where the cable comes from? Also with this side there is nothing to secure the bulb in the housing.

I ordered the stock bulbs from Honda, specifically I do not know what they are. But I do know they plug into the factory plugs. (Well at least the one I can find).

But unfortunately I do not know what part I need to secure them into the actual headlight.

Re: Want to remove HID lights

Got it all set up.
Had to remove all the existing wiring for the HID lights, which was about 50 feet once I had it all out. The plug on the passenger side was plugged into the wiring, however on the drivers side it was not.

Just had to order the two rubber boots from Honda to get it back to OEM spec.
In order to do all of this I also needed to remove the intake box to get a clear look at what I was doing.

Once I had all the proper parts it only took about an hour.

The previous owner of my car had one of these cheap kits installed on the car.

Some how the kit cause the high beams to be on (and stay on) every time the head lights were turned on.

Took that junk off and problem solved.

S14Tan

Sometimes the bulbs have the wires crossed when you buy it . Switch the high beam wire and low beam to fix this
