So if I got these HID lights

So if I bought these HID lights can I just replace the HID bulbs w/ the stock bulbs? Also this kit comes w/ a ballast. Can someone explain a ballast and what is it for and how do I install it.

assuming your stock bulbs are halogen...

HID is different from halogen so no you wont be able to switch them out... not sure why you would want to either... its a system you need to have the ballast to ignite the gas inside the hid bulb.

its just like regular halogen bulbs vs florescent bulbs at home.

Ballast:
"Ballasts provide system stability by limiting the current that can be drawn."

Ignitors:
"Ignitors provide a brief, high voltage pulse or pulse train to breakdown the gas between the electrodes of an arc lamp.

In really basic terms, the ignitors tell the light bulb to wake up and the ballasts keep the bulbs happy.

No you can't just switch out bulbs alone. You either install an entire HID system or nothing at all.
