Default My K25a dyno vs k24a vs k20a2

BIG THANK YOU TO

Dennis at http://www.HYBRIDYNAMICS.com for letting us do around 50 runs in a couple hours, his insight and his very good attitude. I highly recommend his shop for dyno sessions. His rate are also very good!

Ron for the sickest K series cams and pistons on the market  IPS

Ron for letting peak inside his head once in a while :D

Lee and frank from the http://www.driveshaftshop.com for sick stage 2.9 axles..

Mark for the tuning, you worry too much about cops Mark

Carlos from http://www.sctuned.com for the IPS cams!!! Strippers have STD correction!!!
INLINEPRO for the sick 89mm sleeves shortblock and head assembly.. Jeremy is a very good engine builder and a very nice person. I highly advice anyone to give http://www.inlinepro.com a call for your engine needs.

Hondata for Kpro because thanks to you, we can all feel like Formula one engine tuners!

Brian from http://www.Karcepts.com for the RBC connection adapter

Danny from SSR for the sick header

Jeff for the IB spec k24a rods

Myself for the longblock assembly and installation

Honda for these great motors and parts

All the haters for hating, without you my life would not be as boring

The setup

k24a block
89mm sleeves INLINEPRO
IPS 8620 K2 mark2 cams
IPS JE 12.5:1 compression pistons
IB SPEC RODS k24a I beam
SSR HEADER FOR K20a2 motors 4-2-1
STOCK RBC with karcepts ADAPTER
STOCK THROTTLE BODY
Karcepts Intake
STOCK 99mm crank
STOCK 2006 Civic Si head
SUPERTECH spings, titanium retainers, keepers with SUPERTECH FLAT FACE VALVES

Final tune on race gas and open header

same dyno, same header, same rbc, same stock TB,
but with stock k20a2 block with IPS k2 iron core. Basically showing a stock k20a2 block with iron k2 vs my K25a. Difference is the 99mm crank vs the 86mm crank, the 89mm sleeves vs the stock 86mm sleeves and the 8620 Mark 2 K2, vs the iron K2.

Check this out... this is last years k24a with stock sleeves, 13.5:1 compression and same crank, header, rods, manifold, TB and header..

The difference in tq can be attributed to the bigger sleeve, better cam and more efficient piston running on lower compression.. Header and stock TB intake size along with other factors are limiting my k25 but I believe this is a good indication the potential of this motor. The momentum that is getting started runs out of air pretty soon...

On the dyno we did around 50 pulls, here's some interesting graphs put together by Mark who also tuned the car

Here's HIGH CAM COMPOSITE

Here's LOW CAM COMPOSITE

OVERALL CAM COMPOSITE

VTEC Composite Crossover

Of course all these were done on the same dyno... It doesn't read as high as other dynojets but for comparison purposes it does its job and you cannot beat how friendly and accomodating Dennis the dynooperator is.. 50 runs in 2 hours should tell you how nice he is... In some other dynos, they take 4 hours to do 12 runs, eat lunch, install a part, come back, take some phone calls, go to the bathroom for 30 minutes.. etc... This is not what this guy is about.. Very happy with http://www.hybridynamics.com service Worth my 3 hour drive to get there with no heater in the car and open header!! lol

As far as how does it feel... You guys remember that video with the teal hatch beating on the evo and the tach run to 150mph.... Well this car is making so much more torque, it is unreal.. On 3rd gear, doing a pull on 2000 rpm is nuts.... It scared me and Mark after we driving it ***** out after the tuning session... lol

Mikey from elitetuning also helped me get the car running to be able to drive it to the dyno.. Thank you k20addict!

Here;s a video of one run

http://youtube.com/watch?v=4Vc75Fq1kQc

I will get some more videos up and post them next week.

Thanks for reading, time to take it out for a spin....

It's nice and I all, but why don't you dyno it on 91 with a street exhaust and then post the dyno chart?

For a few reasons

-this is a development motor. I wanted to start with stock head, TB and manifold and plan my next step
-I will probably go e85 on it anyway
-If you really want to see the dyno chart on 91 and street exhaust, you can always build your own and see for yourself The difference is not a lot and in some cases it can even make more torque.

For clarification every kseries header needs a custom transition to an exhaust.. It was not a matter of bolting up the stock exhaust which is too small. We have used a 3 inch kteller in the past and the difference was not much... Most of the comparison runs I am using here were also open header so it made sense to keep it like that since I was using the same header

That's a nice build there Nikos, I was growing concerned about you ( busy I take it). That's a nice amount of torque Even I made about 5 pounds less, but I see she's choking somewhere, which is insane cause that just means more power

Great job Nikos

Any ideas about the natural torque roll off on all the setups? I'm not as familiar with the K series, so I don't know the nature of the RBC manifold or anything. Looks really good though. If you could keep that torque up to 170-185 at redline it would be insane!

Whats the rod ratio on the 99mm (crank) engine?

Nikos, its looks good. But i have one question.

How is it that the overall graph from 4k to 8.5k you made more power (yellow line)within your final pull then you did with all of cam angle graphs?

Good question Miller, I am sure you know the answer since you own your own dynojet

A few things contibuted

- added a few degrees ignition in the low cam
-let the motor cool down a 20 minutes before that run.. Remember we did 40-50 pulls in a matter of 2.5 hours or so
-once all the angles were selected power was able to carry on, also helping.. Power in the midrange can affect power up high

Here;s the angles for the high cam on the left and low cam on the right

Looks pretty sweet, Nikos. Did you modify the tensioner or oil pump to support the revs/longevity?

I've got a similar build in the works it will only be 2381ccs with a full 2.4l Hytec exhaust and a PRC IM due to space constraints.

Yes, it does move. My favorite thing to do is slowly rev to 5000 on 3rd gear while it just entered the high cam and step on it and go 4th, 5th on it.. Really fun stuff.. lol

The car is an eg yes,

Without the ITBS though, had to sell them to finish the swap.
