Just got done replacing a new exhaust cam and rockers to this engine.
2003 CRV, ~150k miles
Is it normal to have cam wear like this on a Honda?

no it is not normal replace it

Thanks, yes, I already replaced the cam and the rockers.

I was mostly wondering, how the heck this much wear could have happened with these miles? The engine wasn't abused and had had regular oil change intervals.

the hard face coating has worn out causing those pitting. how exactly i don't know. i have seen a few of those from my work (honda tech) while doing valve adjustments never quit figured out how/why they wear out like that

Doing the head gasket on a 03 cavalier and all the lobes on both cams look just like that. Its also pitted from what looks like rust. Cheap oil maybe?
