stock blockK20a2 vs built k24a with same head
Something I wanted to share with you guys,
k20a2 shortblock vs built k24 shortblock...NOTHING HAS CHANGED. Both setups had very little tuning.
The bolt-on mods for both setups:
PTR velocity stack
Stock Type-S TB
RBC manifold
IPS K2 cams
SSR 4-2-1
KTeller 3" exhaust
The built k24a block needs better cams... and bigger header and and and.. but for now.. we like it...
Built k24a block has
Stock sleeves
Stock 99mm crank(balanced)
JE 87mm 13.5:1 pistons
IB Spec Rods
k20a2 oil pump
Gas was 50/50 110 octane and 93 octane but has been running good on pump as well with some pulled ignition

so you just changed injectors ?
how did you get stock bore pistons to fit?

We are using stock injectors but modified them to flow around 520-540 cc. Very simple, just cut off the tip.. lol
The k24a block was a low mileage block, so there was enough meat for the 87mm to seal properly. I know for a fact that wiseco is going to introduce 87.25mm piston for next year so that we will not have that problem anymore.
Since you cannot see the graph, picture this..
at 5250 RPMs, built k24a makes 43 more whp and 44 ft-lbs more tq

Damn, that is a little different. Fat midrange too. Before VTEC looks kind of weak though IMO lol. Thanks for sharing more K-series information. Those **** on Atom Club don't know what they are missing.

the one on the video, type s tranny with 5.02 ATS Final Drive.
We had to get rid of it though because in the 1/4 mile, almost at the 1/8 mark, car had to go into 5th gear.... so now we are rocking the stock type s FD

There is something to be said about the IPS basemap for the K2 cams.

This 260whp motor is going to need bigger cams to show its potential.. The IPS k2 cams were designed for stock motors.
Whoever I feel the need to share with you something that really suprised the hell out of us. Once the motor got started there was no basemap we could use for that combination so the IPS K2 basemap was used that comes with the hondata K pro... Then it was street tuned for a healthy A/F by adjusting the fuel etc...
The car was then tuned from scratch and then run the 11.7 etc...
A few days ago, for the hell of it the first map was loaded on the ECU and dynoed... The IPS K2 basemap with the adjusted fuel.. nothing else touched... To our surprise the car made the same power with differences in the curve because the VTEC points are different between the 2 maps. To me that showed a few things... The amount of time hondata and IPS devoted to make the IPS k2 baseline map optimal was worth it... Definattely a big plus when considering going with IPS k2 cams... More power can probably be squeezed in certain motors but we were suprised how good that map was... Of course I know that there are other factors like the higher compression etc... but all in all I wanted to share with you that with this particular combination, the IPS K2 basemap produced the same peak power although being night and day when comparing it with the fully tuned map
