Best K24 longblock?

Best K24 longblock?
What is the best starting point K24 long block if you are going to keep the head and have it sent to 4piston for work? I have a bare head but after reading on here, I don't know if that is the best head to use if I want to use a stock K24 short block for all motor application. Best case scenario, what kind of wh/tq is possible on e85 and w/o ITB's? Thanks in advance.

If I were searching for a core to send to 4P I think I'd ask them what they preferred.
That said, I've read that many like the CRV longblock but have no personal experience.

Re: Best K24 longblock?
Couple questions:
- What is your horsepower goal?
- Are you going to keep the bottom end stock or are you going to build it?
- Are you going to keep the head stock or are you going to build it?
- Aftermarket cams or stock?

Stock bottom end for now. I have bigger, high comp pistons for down the road. Now it's important I just get it running in lieu of chasing whp goals right off the bat. Which K24 has the highest compression, 06-8 tsx?
4p head work, now.
Probably 4p rr4 cams or ??? Not stock cams.

290 shouldn't be a problem for either 04-05 TSX or the 06-08 TSX engines, however the bottom end of the 06-08 TSX is better than the 04-05. Since you're having 4P build your head, try asking them for their advice on the bottom end.

Edit: Also, just as a footnote, 290WHP out of a K24 is relatively "easy" to ballpark, in the sense that you don't necessarily have to run a crazy aggressive camshaft, or E85, or some super high compression ratio. 12.5:1 with RR3 cams would likely net you in the ~310WHP area, assuming you're also going to have them P&P the head.

Re: Best K24 longblock?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 06-08 TSX K24A2 engines also had the most aggressive OEM Honda K series cam, even more aggressive than the ITR K20A.
The EXHAUST cam is... the ITR, K20A2/Z1 and K20Z3 intake cams are all more aggressive than those found in the TSX.

I guess this all depends on the dyno and how much BS you like reading on the InterWeb. In my neck of the woods, on the Industry standard DynoJet... 290 wheel HP requires a FULLY built K24... high compression, big cams, head work, high $$$ header and big gas. I have seen 220 to 245 wheel HP done with some compression and mild cams... but that is a LONG way from nearly 300.

We must be seeing some very different reading dynos, because I've seen a metric shitton of mildy built K24/K20s make 270+ with some well placed boltons and cams.
Thanks for the clarification on the TSX/ITR cams.

Re: Best K24 longblock?
The impression I get from the Internet is that 300whp is pretty easy from a k series, but you know how that goes. I'm sure a k24 with 12:1 compression, decent cams and a ported head with a solid header and intake would come close, but I don't know from experience.

Re: Best K24 longblock?
All, thanks for the advice. I ordered a Prayoonto street sweeper short block based on their BF deal. I'm using my 88mm 14.5 Arias XR pistons I had purchased a few months back. I also ordered a 4P 163 head thanks again to BF. I hope to make North of 300whp.
