does this look bad? (and why so)?

going to go look at a 95 civic. Saw this pic of engine and wondered if this was something bad: black staining all around oil fill on head - rest of engine top looked clean. Please let me know why too? thanks!

any chance for a pic?? also black stain could be from a painted valve cover that was then stripped, could be from an oil cap with a poor seal allowing oil to seep out. lots of reasons tbh....its really hard to say

The seals on the oil fill caps commonly dry up and leak, $5 fix
