Posted this on k20, hoping i might get a reply here as well. Wondering what are the best axles to use for an ek w/stock subframe and hasport ekk1 mounts? Every company i email (hasport, dss, etc.) gives me some bullshit three word response. Any help appreciated!

I use Drive Shaft Shop because they are the best,have a good warranty and they support my race program. You can't go wrong with them having different levels of axles as well.Dont forget,there are also alot of variables that factor in where some need special length axles opposed to off the shelf and some need a different level strength than OEM.The off the shelf Hasport axles are superb as well.

Keep in mind,many will just tell you to buy the brand of who they sell or are sponsored by.

I had an ekk1 setup for a couple years. I had Hasport stg1 (old before they improved the heat treatment) & it broke within a month on a 200whp k20a setup. I then went with DSS stg3o with upgraded hubs - they were expensive but lasted.

I am pretty sure you can make an oem combo using prelude & base rsx or ep3 parts b/c ekk1 axles have to be 1/4 longer (i think) I'll do a little more research

BTW if you need a header I have a hytech thats custom made for an ek with ekk1 mounts. a regular swap header may not fit right. check your PM

thanks for your input guys. think im either gonna go with dss axles or the k-inner b-outer oem combo. both have seemed to hold up pretty well against abuse. couple guys even said they were using gator axles with ekk1 mounts with no problem. this will be for a strictly street car, no drag, no track.

EKK1 mounts don't offer the ideal placement & angle for the axles, so if you REALLY want to have axles that don't have issues swap to EKK2 mounts.

Other than that, get the DSS 2.9s with the warranty and you can break them a million times and still have them replaced.

id love to switch to ekk2 but itd be so much work and would cost me a lot of money. keep in mind i have shops do the work cause i dont know how to work on cars. might go with dss 2.9 cause of the warranty thing. i just need ones that'll fit. damn k's are so much more expensive than b's...

i know this is kinda off topic but wouldnt the innovative ek mounts let u keep ur stock cross member and position the motor in a good position?

got the axles in last night. fit like a charm and feel 10x better. they're the hasport egkax axles. i didnt believe hasport when they said they'd fit all eg/ek/dc, but now i do...thanks hasport!

they're stage 0's by the way. i guess the next question is will they last...we shall see.
